Actor Ko Kyung-pyo expressed disappointment about the remodeling of the Jamwon Han River swimming pool and targeted the Seoul City government before retracting his statement.
On Sept. 1, Ko Kyung-pyo posted on his social media account, "A citizen who submitted a complaint replied, 'This is the response to the complaint about the remodeling of the Jamwon swimming pool. We will not remove the adult pool~.' Thank you for sending this."
Ko Kyung-pyo had previously posted a photo of a banner that read, 'The Jamwon Han River swimming pool will undergo remodeling starting this year,' expressing disappointment, saying, "I've heard that the Jamwon Han River swimming pool will no longer be a swimming pool for adults after remodeling. I thought the size, depth, layout, sunbeds, and overall improvements were getting better, but I've heard that this year will be the last chance to enjoy swimming as we do now. I sincerely hope this is not true… it's sad. I wish I knew the reason."
In the past, Ko Kyung-pyo revealed his reasons for enjoying outdoor swimming pools on the YouTube web entertainment show 'Punggyeogo,' stating, "I love swimming so much that I go to the Jamwon Han River swimming pool every year," and "I've heard that if I expose my body in crowded places, it reduces the shame I feel."
Upon hearing rumors that adults would no longer be able to use the Han River swimming pool after remodeling, Ko Kyung-pyo publicly expressed his negative views about it. However, he noted, "The Jamwon Han River Park swimming pool was established in 1989 and has become outdated after more than 30 years, necessitating improvements for efficient budget utilization due to declining user satisfaction and excessive maintenance costs. Therefore, we are currently in the process of designing the reconstruction project for the Jamwon Han River Park swimming pool, with plans to begin construction in 2026 and complete it by 2027."
He added, "The swimming pool will focus on activities for adults, including swimming, relaxation, photo zones, and tanning, and also plans to introduce water play and experiential learning activities for all generations. We will strive to create a swimming pool with high user satisfaction through your feedback, so we ask for your understanding."
After obtaining a response and official stance regarding the remodeling of the Jamwon Han River swimming pool, Ko Kyung-pyo retracted his previous statement targeting the Seoul City government, saying, "Lululala," and mentioned that it was a misunderstanding that stemmed from his own confusion.
Meanwhile, Ko Kyung-pyo has recently confirmed his appearance in the new tvN drama 'Miss Undercover Boss' (working title).
