Actor Jung Kyung-ho shared his thoughts on challenging himself with tango in 'Boss'.
On the morning of the 1st, a production report for the movie 'Boss' (directed by Ra Hee-chan) was held at the MegaBox Seongsu in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. The meeting was attended by director Ra Hee-chan and actors Jo Woo-jin, Jung Kyung-ho, Park Ji-hwan, and Lee Gyu-hyung, who shared their thoughts.
'Boss' is a comedic action film that depicts the desperate competition of organization members fiercely 'yielding' the boss position to one another for their own dreams, in anticipation of electing the next boss, which is crucial for the future of the organization.
In the film, Jung Kyung-ho plays the role of Gang-pyo, who has devoted himself to tango instead of the position of heir to the organization. He described his character, saying, "A pure person. When he gets fixated on something, he only sees that. He is someone who wants to do what he wants freely, and that was dancing."
He continued, "Actually, it wasn't dancing; originally, it was piano. I thought it would be more effective to work harder on tango because there wasn't enough time to prepare, but that wasn't the case. It was really difficult. I think tango was what could make people laugh more when Gang-pyo appeared, so after discussing it with the director, we immediately started dance practice."
He said he worked hard practicing tango for about four months for his character, stating, "Tango is a really attractive dance. I want to recommend it to those around me," expressing how he became deeply fascinated with tango.
When asked if he received any advice on tango practice from Girls' Generation's Choi Soo-young, with whom he has been publicly dating for 13 years, Jung Kyung-ho replied, "Soo-young's advice has been abundant, not just about dance," adding, "It was helpful. I think I received comments like 'good job' or 'how was it' when I sent videos I took."
He also mentioned, "Choreography and tango seem to be different genres," but expressed gratitude, saying that as someone experienced, "It was very helpful."
Meanwhile, 'Boss' is set to be released in theaters this Chuseok.
