As rumors of a romantic relationship involving Jimin of BTS have ignited, the agency has shared its official stance.
On the 31st, Big Hit Music stated in a press release, "We have respected Jimin's privacy and the individual referenced in relation to it, and have refrained from disclosing our position until now." It continued, "However, due to the ongoing speculative reports and rumors that are not true, we found it unavoidable to reveal at least some factual information."
The reason the agency has maintained silence thus far was to respect the privacy of Jimin and the individual involved. However, as speculative writings and conjectures have repeated, it became necessary to address the situation to prevent further spread.
Big Hit Music explained, "The artist previously had a favorable relationship with the individual, but that was several years ago and they are not currently in a relationship."
It urged, "Please refrain from indiscriminate speculation about personal lives. We also ask that you refrain from actions that may harm the individual mentioned together."
The rumors surrounding Jimin and Song Da-eun are not new. Last year, Song Da-eun raised questions after posting and then deleting photos on her social media of a BTS T-shirt and an earphone case inscribed with the names 'Jimin and Da-eun.'
As suspicions arose, Song Da-eun at the time stated, "Ask someone else about the matter involving a third party," but speculation continued.
In particular, Song Da-eun publicly revealed the torrent of negative comments and hinted at a strong response. Posting a message saying, "If someone intentionally hurts another person, they should face consequences," along with a capture of negative comment emails, she warned, "A lawyer is reading it. You will soon be investigated by the police."
Recently, Song Da-eun posted a personal video with Jimin on her social media, and ultimately, amidst repeated speculation, Jimin's agency stepped in to address the controversy.
