Singer Hwang Garam reflected on his tough times as an unknown and recently confessed that he has paid off all his debts.
On 29th, a video titled "How's Kim Bum Soo's singing ability score? Hwang Garam analyzes Kim Bum Soo's vocal history" was posted on the YouTube channel 'I Want to Hear Kim Bum Soo.'
The released video features Hwang Garam, who gained popularity with "I Am Firefly," as a guest grants, talking with Kim Bum Soo.
Hwang Garam mentioned his unknown days, saying, "At first, I even lived on the streets, and I worked part-time in a side dish store and logistics center until just before 'I Am Firefly' did well."
He said, "I was still working part-time at a side dish store in Hwaseong when 'Firefly' rankings were rising. It was my aunt's house, and I remember washing radishes and cabbages at dawn while my aunt was beside me, overwhelmed with emotion at that moment," adding, "It was natural for my rent to be more than 6 months overdue at that time."
Hwang Garam also expressed gratitude to the fellow musicians who were there during his tough times. "A brother I met when I was homeless still lets me stay at his house and buys me meals, and he even arranged for 'Immortal Songs.' We are still making music together now," he emphasized.
Especially, the biggest change recently was paying off debts. Hwang Garam said, "It was quite a large amount, but I have almost paid it all back. It was close to a large bill," adding, "The joy of making money is less than the happiness of being able to repay those who believed in me during that time. I even gave cash. I used to avoid the landlord, but now I can walk around proudly."
