Comedian Lee Guk-joo shared an unpleasant experience she had while living in Japan.
On the 30th, a video titled "Visiting a Japanese fortune teller with my Korean shaman friend. Lee Guk-joo's marriage fortune & career fortune... Complete tips! How to be treated well at a foreign restaurant..." was uploaded on her YouTube channel 'Lee Guk-joo'.
In the released video, Lee Guk-joo visited a Japanese fortune teller with Korean shaman Byeon Do-ryeong and her close friend Eun-ji. The Japanese fortune teller, upon seeing Lee Guk-joo's name, expressed surprise, saying it was "a name like a queen," and regarding her marriage fortune, she interpreted it by saying, "There are no stars for marriage. It's not that you can't marry, but you prioritize work more."
She then remarked, "It's hard to buy a house as a comedian. Other industries, like bakeries, fit better," which left Lee Guk-joo flustered.
Afterward, the three of them went to a local restaurant in Japan. Although Eun-ji, who is proficient in Japanese, was with them, the restaurant owner said when asked for a menu explanation, "If you don't know, just Google it," which displeased Eun-ji.
Lee Guk-joo showed a bitter reaction, saying, "They treat us like tourists. If you can't speak the language or you're a foreigner, there are places that treat you this way."
However, when the food arrived, the atmosphere changed. Lee Guk-joo laughed, saying, "If it's delicious, I can understand," and expressed gratitude, saying she felt reassured thanks to Eun-ji. Engaging in conversation with the guests at the next table, she revealed, "My desire to study Japanese has ignited," showcasing her characteristic friendliness.
Meanwhile, Lee Guk-joo revealed that she started living alone in Tokyo, Japan, in April, and she drew attention by showing her 9-pyeong studio.
