The 'Seoul Indie Music Festa (SIMf) Label Market & Showcase', now in its 8th year, will be held on September 20 (Saturday) and 21 (Sunday) at the Seoul Hangang Park Seoul Ship area in Mangwon. The organizers announced the start of the festival by revealing a poster that includes the lineup of labels participating in the Label Market and showcase musicians.
Unlike huge commercial festivals, the SIMf Label Market & Showcase values artist autonomy, independence, and sustainability, allowing the audience to simultaneously experience the present and future of indie music in a space where performances and markets are combined.
This year's showcase stage is filled with a diverse array of artists more than any previous year, with performances of different colors continuing over the two days.
On September 20, Saturday, the audience will be greeted by △Djembecola, who delivers refreshing energy based on African Manding music, △Wilcox, who sings youth with cinematic sensibility and polished sound, and △OmO, who expresses the emotions of love.
Following them, △Parasol Waves, formed in Jeju and inspired by free culture and nature, △Weatherboat, noted for its modern rock sound and emotional vocals, singer-songwriter △Yoon Seok-won, who gained attention through the SNS content 'Suddenly Thought of Melody', and △Choo Seung-yeob (Aktoong), who will showcase an original stage, are set to heat up Saturday evening.
On September 21, Sunday, △LYSON, who presented 'Our Orbit' and 'I'll bravely say it' with a sweet voice, △Brown Tigger, who traverses various genres based on reggae, and the duo △Mind U, representing the Korean indie scene, will take the stage.
Additionally, △saera x SER!N, who expresses anime song and game music sensibilities in her own style, △Bobby Pins, delivering cheerful retro rock and roll, △SBGB, who warmly captures the essence of dawn, and △Bae In-hyeok of 'Romantic Punch', known for explosive live performances, will join to decorate Sunday night.
During the two-day event, the Label Market will feature a variety of independent labels leading the indie scene, presenting albums and goods they have produced in a voluntary donation format. Participating labels include △Grow Entertainment, △Cami International, △Rockstar Music & Live, △Ruby Record, △Le French Code, △Modern Boy Entertainment, △Cultural People, △Stone Ship, △I1 Entertainment, △All Blue Records, △In Planet, △In Heart Music (Odd Soap), △Crepe Sound, △Patio Heater, △Hox Music, and △JNH Music, allowing the audience to meet and interact with indie music today in a relaxed atmosphere.
This event is organized by the Korea Music Label Industry Association and hosted by the Live Club Cooperative, with sponsorship from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. An official from SIMf noted, "The SIMf Label Market & Showcase is establishing itself as a platform that connects the entire indie music ecosystem beyond just performances," and added, "The donations raised through a citizen participation donation program will be used for the sustainable activities of indie music and independent labels."
