Actress Suzy is embroiled in rumors of marriage with APR's representative Kim Byung-hoon, and her agency will take legal action.
Suzy's agency Management Soop announced its official position on the 29th, stating on its official SNS, "Recently, false rumors, speculative reports, malicious posts, and defamatory comments have been confirmed regarding our artist. This seriously harms the artist's reputation, and we plan to pursue strong legal action without any settlement or leniency."
It added, "We will firmly respond to all illegal acts in the future and do our best to protect the rights and interests of our artist," and requested that any reports of infringements on the artist's rights be sent to the email below.
Recently, rumors have rapidly spread on SNS and online communities that Suzy is marrying the emerging conglomerate's representative in the beauty industry, Kim Byung-hoon, according to 'securities speculation.'
Kim Byung-hoon, the CEO who is suddenly embroiled in marriage rumors with Suzy, was born in 1988 and is a graduate of Yonsei University's Business Administration. He founded APRILSKIN (now APR) in 2014 while still a student at Yonsei, and later expanded his business into health food brands and fashion brands.
APR has aggressively pursued global marketing, featuring models like Kim Hee-seon and IVE's Jang Won-young, and has now become the number one company in the cosmetics industry's market capitalization, surpassing Amorepacific. As of the 21st, APR's market capitalization was approximately 8.1599 trillion won, and it is reported that Kim Byung-hoon holds about 2.5 trillion won. Bloomberg reported last month that Kim Byung-hoon was named a billionaire, and other foreign media outlets also introduced him as a young 'beauty billionaire' in his 30s.
As the 'marriage rumor' spread, Soop's representative Kim Jang-kyun expressed his anger on his personal SNS, saying, "If you spread rumors, you'll be in trouble," drawing a line that the rumor about Suzy's marriage was unfounded.
Earlier, in 2018, when marriage rumors about agency actors Gong Yoo and Jung Yoo-mi spread, representative Kim Jang-kyun also issued a warning message to those spreading false information, saying, "Let's meet face to face soon."
However, despite the agency representative's clarification, baseless rumors spread that "the two are not engaged but are indeed in a relationship." Ultimately, the agency, which had maintained silence without issuing an official position, decided to take active measures.
Meanwhile, Suzy is set to release the new Netflix series "Genie, Make A Wish." It is a stress-free, fantasy romantic comedy about a genie (played by Kim Woo-bin) who awakens after more than a thousand years and meets a human, Kayoung (played by Suzy), who lacks emotions, as they make three wishes together. The global release is scheduled for October 3.
