The new tvN Monday-Tuesday drama 'The CEO Project' (written by Ban Gi-ri, directed by Shin Kyung-soo, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Du Frame) will premiere on Sept. 15 (Monday) at 8:50 p.m. It features a mysterious CEO with a secret who, as a former legendary negotiator and current chicken restaurant owner, navigates between illegality and legality to solve cases and realize justice.
In the drama, the character played by Han Seok-kyu, the CEO, is usually a friendly chicken restaurant owner in the neighborhood but transforms into a negotiator mode the moment a case arises, possessing a captivating charm. As filming continued, Han Seok-kyu, who became more deeply immersed in this CEO's charm, noted, 'The biggest thing I felt while acting was the clear contrast in this character's temperature. Outwardly, he seems clever and cheerful, but at decisive moments, he becomes surprisingly solid and sharp,' introducing the special traits of the CEO character.
Han Seok-kyu mentioned that through 'The CEO Project,' he chose 'playfulness' as the new side he would showcase. He said, 'Until now, I've had many heavy or serious roles,' adding, 'This time, playfulness and leisure are the main elements, and I tried to incorporate hidden sharpness within that. Things like the focus in my eyes when I suddenly concentrate, and the firm determination hidden behind light jokes' raised expectations for Han Seok-kyu's unique aspects that have never been seen before.
In the process of filling himself with enjoyable energy to become the CEO, Han Seok-kyu also discovered similarities with the character. 'The CEO observes people closely and puts strength into his words, and that part resembles me a bit,' he began. He shared, 'Even in daily conversations, I tend to focus a lot on the other person and look at the atmosphere rather than just the words.'
He added, 'As I filmed, those habits became a great asset for expressing the CEO,' while also humorously noting, 'However, I am still learning how to negotiate cheerfully like the CEO.'
Finally, Han Seok-kyu added intrigue by mentioning the food keyword for portraying the CEO character: the unchanging steady seller 'half-fried, half-seasoned.' He said, 'The CEO seems light and simple like fried chicken on the outside but has a rich and deep flavor hidden inside like seasoning.' He also revealed, 'The charm of the CEO lies in his ability to mix that flavor appropriately depending on the situation,' making the anticipation for meeting the CEO even greater.
