'Big Hit Music rookie' Cortis has turned on the green light for success on the music charts.
According to the global music streaming platform YouTube Music, the title track 'What You Want' from Cortis's debut album has surpassed 10 million cumulative streams as of the 28th. This achievement came just 10 days after the music was released on the 18th. It is quite unusual for a rookie boy group to reach 10 million streams on that platform in such a short time. The fact that YouTube Music boasts a high market share both domestically and internationally allows us to feel the popularity of Cortis.
On the same day, Cortis's YouTube Music monthly viewers reached 10.1 million. This figure estimates the number of global users who watched their content or listened to their music over the past 28 days. Considering that Cortis's official YouTube account was established on the 10th, it means that 10.1 million people enjoyed Cortis's content within just 18 days.
Cortis is rapidly climbing the ranks in the domestic music charts, where major artists are fiercely competing. 'What You Want' entered the top 100 of South Korean Apple Music at 91st place (as of Aug. 20) and rose to 19th place in the latest chart (as of Aug. 26), gaining momentum in popularity. On Spotify's 'Daily Top Songs Korea', it rose from 137th (as of Aug. 22) to 61st (as of Aug. 26).
International achievements have also shone. Cortis's debut album 'COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES' ranked 10th in the latest (as of Aug. 27) 'Countdown Chart Global', based on the most saved pages by Spotify users. It stood shoulder to shoulder with major American artists like Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and Doja Cat. This supports the high expectations and popularity of Cortis among global music fans.
'What You Want' gained traction after its first stage performance on Mnet's 'M Countdown' on the 21st. The fresh choreography utilizing a treadmill and a performance filled with the scent of sweat garnered a hot response. The solid vocal performance showcased on KBS Cool FM's 'Park Myung-soo's Radio Show' also played a significant role in boosting their recognition.
If music and stage served as the 'gateway to fandom', their own content definitely played a role in nurturing fan loyalty. After making a strong impression on stage, they consecutively released dance practice videos, rehearsal footage, and self-produced music videos on their official YouTube channel. As a 'Young Creator Crew' who co-create music, choreography, and visuals, they captured fans' hearts by sharing realistic practice and working processes. Additionally, the unembellished appearances and cheerful chemistry of the members in their daily lives have amplified the team's appeal.
Cortis posted the last concept photo of their debut album 'COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES', which will officially release on Sept. 8, on the official social media of the dp team at 10 a.m. on the 28th. In the photo, the members show their genuine charm by singing freely and striking poses in a photo booth.
