Actor Jung Sung-il of the movie 'Murderer Report' revealed the struggles of having many lines.
On the afternoon of 28th, a press screening and reporter meeting for the movie 'Murderer Report' (directed by Cho Young-jun, provided by A2Z Entertainment and Sony Pictures International Productions, produced by With Ace Studio, MIK Studio, and Pluto Story Group, distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment Korea and A2Z Entertainment) was held at the CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Yongsan, Seoul. Director Cho Young-jun and lead actors Jo Yeo-jung, Jung Sung-il, and Kim Tae-han attended the event to discuss the work.
Director Cho Young-jun noted his admiration for Jo Yeo-jung and Jung Sung-il, stating, "Both actors memorized their lines in full." In response, Jung Sung-il said, "I can't believe it; there were edited parts, but honestly, I wanted to kill (the director) because of the line volume," which drew laughter from the audience.
He said, "I wondered if this person was giving these two a line volume with a clear mind. I had no choice but to memorize it all. That way, I gained the strength to carry on to the end. Since it happened daily, I had no choice but to memorize everything before filming." He added, "I was grateful that Tae-han came out intermittently, providing me with breathing space."
He also emphasized, "Unlike what I had memorized, the scene changed so much that I went in without any calculations. The character Yeong-hoon underwent many variations due to the personality that Jo Yeo-jung had. The range of changes coming my way when delivering lines was huge. My line tone and actions were heavily influenced by the director and actor Yeo-jung. I wasn't a calculating actor who would carry it all the way; I was just responding and rolling with every scene, so I was really thankful. Jo Yeo-jung said she relied on me, but I just went along with it. I'm so grateful and thankful for my partner."
'Murderer Report' depicts a story in which veteran reporter Sun-joo (Jo Yeo-jung) asks psychiatrist Yeong-hoon (Jung Sung-il) for an interview confession regarding a series of murders. It will be released in theaters nationwide on Friday, September 5.
