KBS announcer Kim Jin-woong, who made the rude remark, "Do Kyung-wan is a sub to Jang Yoon-jung," has apologized twice, and the production team of 'Boss's ears are donkey ears,' which aired without editing it, also offered an apology.
On the 27th, the team from KBS 2TV's 'Boss's ears are donkey ears' (hereafter 'Boss's ears') stated, "We sincerely apologize for causing concern and discomfort to many due to the content of last week's program.
They added, "In the future, we will do our best to pay closer attention throughout the entire production process to prevent such incidents from happening again."
The production team further stated, "Once again, we deeply apologize to many for causing disappointment, and we will take this incident as a lesson to provide more responsible and mature broadcasting."
The controversy began on the 24th during KBS2's 'Boss's ears are donkey ears,' where announcer Eom Ji-in received marriage counseling alongside announcers Nam Hyun-jong and Kim Jin-woong.
During this process, announcer Kim Jin-woong said, "I can't live like my senior Do Kyung-wan. It might be disrespectful to say this to my senior, but I can't live as someone's sub."
Following the broadcast, Do Kyung-wan's wife, Jang Yoon-jung, expressed her displeasure on her social media account, saying, "There can't be jokes or playfulness in words or actions when the counterpart cannot laugh. There are no subs among families."
As the controversy grew, Kim Jin-woong posted a lengthy apology on social media the next day. He said, "I apologize for causing concern to Do Kyung-wan and Jang Yoon-jung, my seniors," and "I apologize for causing discomfort to viewers and fans." He bowed his head and added, "In particular, Senior Do Kyung-wan was someone who warmly looked after his juniors since the time he worked in the field, and I have greatly troubled him." He further stated, "I will not repeat the same mistake again."
Jang Yoon-jung accepted Kim Jin-woong's apology and concluded the matter. He mentioned, "I even received a text from an unknown number to convey his apology. It must have taken courage to apologize, and for that reason alone, I believe I should accept it," referring to his attitude. He added, "Many have empathized with my post, which eased my upset feelings. I hope happiness and luck will be with him in the future."
As the controversy spread, the replay of the problematic broadcast was ultimately suspended.
On the 26th, Do Kyung-wan also revealed through his social media, "Our couple's appearance may seem tilted to someone. However, we respect and care for each other and are living together firmly."
He added, "I received an apology text from junior Kim Jin-woong. I was upset thinking that this incident may have hurt my family and those who love us, but I hope no one else gets hurt because of this," and further stated, "We will greet again with bright appearances."
