The group BOYNEXTDOOR has swept the top of major local weekly charts in Japan with their single.
According to the Oricon announcement on the 28th, BOYNEXTDOOR (Seongho, Riu, Myungjaehyun, Taesan, Ihan, Unhak)'s second Japanese single 'BOYLIFE' has obtained 356,590 points in the 'weekly combined single ranking' (aggregation period: Aug. 18-24) and secured the 1st place. They also topped the 'weekly single ranking' counted during the same period, achieving a double crown on the weekly charts.
'Weekly combined single ranking' is ranked by aggregating CD sales, digital downloads, streaming counts, etc. Oricon explained that high CD sales have driven this ranking. Previously, 'BOYLIFE' sold about 346,000 copies in its first week based on Oricon standards, securing the 1st place in the 'weekly single ranking'. Among foreign artists who released albums in Japan this year, BOYNEXTDOOR is the only one to sell over 300,000 copies in the first week, reaching the top of that chart.
BOYNEXTDOOR also grasped a double crown on the latest Billboard Japan charts counted during the same period. Their new release 'BOYLIFE' topped the 'Top Single Sales', and the title track 'Count To Love' entered the 'Hot 100' in 1st place, breaking the team's best record following Oricon.
'BOYLIFE' is an album that allows listeners to feel the bold charm and confidence of youth. BOYNEXTDOOR expressed emotions that anyone has experienced in their own vivid way. The Japanese original title track 'Count To Love' portrays a heartwarming love story in a cheerful atmosphere. Taesan participated in the songwriting, adding the team's uniqueness.
BOYNEXTDOOR will present a new song performance on TBS 'CDTV LIVE! LIVE!' on Sept. 1 and will appear on TV Asahi's 'M:ZINE' for three weeks from Sept. 5 to 19, granting a special broadcast.
