The group BTS has added a 'double platinum' certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan on the 28th, BTS's title track 'DNA' from the album 'LOVE YOURSELF 承 'Her'' released in September 2017 has surpassed 200 million streams as of July, earning a 'double platinum' certification in the streaming institutional sector. With this, BTS now holds its sixth 'double platinum' song following 'Dynamite', 'Permission to Dance', 'Butter', 'Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey)', and 'Stay Gold'.
The Recording Industry Association of Japan categorizes songs based on cumulative streams in the streaming institutional sector, distinguishing between gold (over 50 million), platinum (over 100 million), and diamond (over 500 million), granting certifications monthly.
'DNA' deals with the message that 'we are fatefully intertwined from the beginning and were one from our DNA.' It features an electro-pop sound with acoustic guitar and expresses youthful and vibrant love in a refreshing and delightful manner.
BTS first entered the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart with 'DNA'. The album 'LOVE YOURSELF 承 'Her'', which includes this song, charted on the Billboard 200. At that time, BTS made history as the first Korean artist to rank simultaneously on the two main Billboard charts, 'Hot 100' and 'Billboard 200'.
BTS is currently working toward the release of a new album targeted for spring next year. Along with the album release, they are preparing for a grand world tour, signaling a spectacular return as '21st-century pop icons'.
