In "No Other Choice," actor Lee Byung-hun is expected to deliver an overwhelming performance.
On the 27th, the production team of the film "No Other Choice" (directed by Park Chan-wook, provided/distributed by CJ ENM, produced by Moho Film and CJ ENM Studios) revealed the character lineage brought to life by Lee Byung-hun.
Following the massive earthquake that swept through Seoul, in the film "Concrete Utopia," which tells the stories of the last survivors, Lee Byung-hun delivers a powerful performance as the resident representative of an APT., 'Young-tak', sweeping various awards including Best Actor at the Blue Dragon Film Awards that year. In the movie "The Match," set against the backdrop of the legendary confrontation between Master Cho Hun-hyun and his disciple Lee Chang-ho, he expressed a fierce tension amidst tranquility as the Go player 'Cho Hun-hyun', leaving a profound impact on audiences.
In the globally popular series "Squid Game," he showcased an overwhelming presence as the masked figure overseeing the brutal survival game, 'Frontman', capturing the attention of global viewers. Recently, he participated in the animation "K-Pop Demon Hunters" by voicing 'Gwi-ma', a character that threatens K-Pop, demonstrating his limitless character adaptability. Through continuous challenges, Lee Byung-hun has established himself as a representative actor of Korea and is set to prove his solid acting skills once again as 'Mansu', an unemployed job seeker on the brink after losing his job in "No Other Choice."
"No Other Choice" depicts the story of 'Mansu' (Lee Byung-hun), an office worker who felt his life was satisfactory enough to say "I have accomplished everything," who, after abruptly being fired, prepares for his own war towards re-employment while trying to protect his wife and two children and the home he worked hard to secure. Lee Byung-hun intricately portrays 'Mansu', an ordinary breadwinner who lived a satisfying life but prepares for his own battle overnight after being fired.
The desperation revealed in the process of struggling to find re-employment, along with 'Mansu's human side showing through his clumsiness at critical moments, is compellingly completed with Lee Byung-hun's detailed acting. Additionally, teaming up for the first time with Son Ye-jin, who plays his wife 'Miri', who becomes stronger in a situation threatening their livelihood, Lee Byung-hun delicately illustrates the realistic image of a couple supporting each other despite being shaken by crises. With such outstanding character portrayals, Lee Byung-hun is expected to unveil a new face in "No Other Choice" and dominate the theaters this September.
The new film "No Other Choice" by director Park Chan-wook, featuring a meeting of trustworthy actors, dramatic developments, beautiful mise-en-scène, solid direction, and infused with black comedy, is set to be released on September 24.
