Actress Ko Hyun-jung is igniting her passion for acting despite her declining health.
In the YouTube variety show 'Salon Drip 2' released on the 26th, Ko Hyun-jung shared her experience of being hospitalized while filming the drama 'Naive.' She said, 'I was hospitalized due to sickness during filming, but as soon as I was discharged, I went back to the filming set,' and 'The director told me not to say I'm fine if I was in pain, and I was able to draw out the best emotions.'
Earlier, Ko Hyun-jung openly revealed her changed daily life and mindset in a magazine interview. She said, 'I realized that after being sick, I prefer kindness and warmth. I found myself suffering from 'cool disease,' and I have just realized that kindness is what is good for the body.' She also expressed her affectionate feelings for her family, saying, 'I've started to call my parents more often and take care of them.'
Ko Hyun-jung collapsed in the morning in January and was transported to the emergency room. Her agency stated, 'This is not the first time. With two days left until the wrap-up, it seems she has been enduring.' They mentioned that Ko Hyun-jung, feeling responsible as the lead, held on but ultimately collapsed. They also explained, 'The details are sensitive, so it's hard to share, but please don't misunderstand—it is not for another reason.'
After being discharged, Ko Hyun-jung said, 'I'm sorry for causing worry. I have recovered a lot. Now I can eat well and meet some close acquaintances. I was surprised at how sick I was, but after safely finishing with the major surgery, I feel more awake. I will be careful and take good care of myself.' Although Ko Hyun-jung appeared somewhat haggard, she reassured her fans with her determination to recover quickly.
She mentioned that she is not fully cured yet. Ko Hyun-jung said, 'I am receiving intensive care in the hospital, and although it is said that I will reduce medication and stabilize by autumn, I am not cured. I like to rest at home, but I seem to become healthier while working. When I focus solely on myself, my condition worsens. When I work, I tend to forget about it.'
Meanwhile, Ko Hyun-jung is set to meet viewers in the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'The Mantis: Original Sin,' which will premiere on Sept. 5 at 9:50 p.m. This work is a high-density crime thriller that occurs after the capture of the brutal serial killer 'The Mantis,' over twenty years ago, when copycat crimes arise, and a detective, who has harbored hatred for 'The Mantis'—who is his mother—conducts an unexpected joint investigation.
In the drama, Ko Hyun-jung plays Jeong Yi-shin, a serial killer known as 'The Mantis' for brutally murdering five men twenty years ago. In the released photo, she is seen wearing a blue prison uniform, trapped behind cold iron bars, with a chilling expression. The prison uniform bears a bright red inmate number indicating that she is on death row, and her pallid face strikingly contrasts, adding to the eeriness.
