The Netflix animated film "K-Pop Demon Hunters" has risen to first place in the film institutional sector.
According to Netflix's Tudum top 10 website on the 27th, "K-Pop Demon Hunters" (hereinafter "K-Demon Hunters") recorded a cumulative view count of 236 million, securing its spot as the highest-grossing film in Netflix history. The total viewing time is 393 million hours.
Thus, "K-Demon Hunters" has set a new record by surpassing the 230.9 million views of the film "Red Notice," which was released in 2021 and starred Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot. This achievement comes approximately two months after its first release on June 20.
"K-Demon Hunters" is an action fantasy animation that tells the story of K-pop superstars HuntRix members Lumi, Mira, and Joy, who act as hidden heroes protecting the glamorous world behind the stage. The girl group and demon hunters, HuntRix, encounter the boy group Lion Boys and fight against the demons, creating an interesting narrative that has led to a global phenomenon. Korean actors Ahn Hyo-seop and Lee Byung-hun participated in the English dubbing.
Although two months have passed since its release, the popularity of "K-Demon Hunters" remains high. In particular, the song "Golden" performed by the virtual K-pop girl group HuntRix has regained the top spot on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart (as of August 30), returning to number one after two weeks.
"Golden" is the first song by a K-pop girl group to reach number one on the Hot 100 in two years, and it has now achieved its second number one overall.
In addition to "Golden," other songs have also entered the Hot 100 top 10. The virtual K-pop boy group Lion Boys' song "Your Idol" is at number four, while "Soda Pop" is at number five. Additionally, HuntRix's "How It's Done" has secured the tenth position.
