(Following Interview ②) Actor Lim Do-hwa, who returned through the film 'The Black Spirit,' revealed the sweet life of a newlywed two months after marriage.
Lim Do-hwa conducted an interview on the afternoon of the 27th at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. He met with domestic reporters at this event and discussed the film 'The Black Spirit.'
'The Black Spirit,' which was released that day, is an occult horror film that begins with the character Anuaat (Anupam Tripathi), who hides a horrific past and secrets, and Sua (Lim Do-hwa), who is destined to die at the age of 25, facing a chilling fate on a full moon night. Lim Do-hwa took his first challenge on screen as 'Lim Do-hwa' through this work.
Publicly, he has returned to the screen as an actor, and personally, Lim Do-hwa celebrated dual happiness. In June, he married his husband Song Ui-hwan after three years of dating. The two, who met at church, became connected through an arts group within the church, and the common interests of Song Ui-hwan, who majored in directing and is active as a theater actor, and Lim Do-hwa, who is preparing to make a leap as an actress, quickly developed into a romantic relationship.
Lim Do-hwa and Song Ui-hwan are also currently business partners at a cafe in Chungjeong-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul. It was determined that a stable income was necessary to continue acting, leading Song Ui-hwan to open a franchise of the cafe run by his mother, and during the startup process, Lim Do-hwa, then his girlfriend, provided assistance, which led them to become business partners and eventually marry.
How is the newlywed life after two months? Lim Do-hwa brightly smiled and said, "I am so happy" and described it as "the happiest days of my 30 years of life," making those around him glow with joy. He shared, "Actually, just yesterday, my husband and I couldn't sleep together. My husband is also acting, and I am acting as well, and neither of us has our next projects set, and we are in the position of auditioning, which makes me think every day about whether we can continue living as actors. When I was pondering alone, the end of that thought was despair, but when we think about it together, the end of that thought becomes hope, which is so nice."
Lim Do-hwa expressed, "I don't need to become a great actor; I am just happy to be acting. I hope there will always be places where I can perform. It makes me happy to think that we can do it together. I used to think, 'If no one casts me, I might disappear,' but now I can think, 'Our time will come someday.'"
Regarding his self-employment, Lim Do-hwa said, "My main job is being an actor and my side job is the cafe, but sadly, I am spending a lot of time at the cafe. I am waiting for the day when I can't go to the cafe due to my acting schedule." He joked, "Of course, self-employment isn't easy at all. All business owners are truly amazing."
It might be considered an issue that marriage is disadvantageous for an actor. Lim Do-hwa noted, "Romantic comedies are still quite prevalent in the genre, and the theme of love is never absent among all themes, so being unmarried might be advantageous, but I think I'm not good at sweet romances. I don't have a lot of charm by nature, and I struggle with affectionate expressions. Anyway, I want to do more genre films. I thought it would be fine to give that up; once I'm on a certain trajectory, I can do a variety of projects regardless of marriage, and I thought it could happen then. My husband is an excellent coach for me. I can have a very good coach 24/7."
He also expressed affection by saying, "My husband studied directing. He looks at me with the director's perspective, which is great. If I were a director, he would say, 'I think it's more interesting for you to act this way.' It's nice to have him continue to give me feedback with that perspective. That's why I think I was able to trust him."
Members of AOA also attended the wedding to congratulate Lim Do-hwa. Hye-jung, Ji-min, and Seol-hyun attended in person, while Yuna, who was in the early stages of pregnancy, congratulated her separately. Furthermore, marriage became a new turning point for Lim Do-hwa. He said, "There are so many wonderful people in the entertainment industry. However, now they are people unrelated to me. Choosing a life with Song Ui-hwan without regret, Lim Do-hwa has finally challenged himself to a second act in life through 'The Black Spirit.' He showcases his bare face and takes on a dual role. He said, "Personally, it means a lot to me that I filmed with red hair and black hair in the movie. I originally thought I had to have red hair to match my true self more beautifully. I thought it suited me better and was prettier. That look was a moment I could not let go of. It was an identity I couldn't abandon, but while watching this film alone in the theater, I thought it was time to let it go. I felt it was a beautiful closure, like I was marking the end beautifully as an idol."
Additionally, he mentioned, "If I feel nervous or think I need to show my best during sound recording, my voice goes extremely high and becomes thin. That tone sounds very childlike. I felt that while watching the movie. I want to focus on the roles I can perform with my own voice. Personally, it is a movie I am very grateful for."
