Comedian Kim Byeong-man, who announced his remarriage, confessed to the painful marriage with his ex-wife and revealed his family.
On the broadcast of TV Chosun's *'Lovers of Joseon'* on the 25th, the current situation of Kim Byeong-man, who joined as a new lover, was aired. During an interview in Jeju Island, he reported, "Since I wasn't appearing on television, I heard people saying, 'Isn't he just taking a break?' I was preparing for mental healing and a new start."
He confessed that after registering his marriage in 2010, he entrusted the economic rights to his ex-wife, but that he experienced difficult times due to financial hardship and indifference. He revealed that even when he broke his spine during filming in the United States in 2017, his ex-wife did not come to his side. Kim Byeong-man said, "There was life insurance. If I had died, this person would have made a ton of money. This situation should be in a documentary about incidents."
Kim Byeong-man said that as soon as his ex-wife registered their marriage in 2010, she sent his mother, who had been living with them, back home, citing economic issues as the most challenging aspect of their marriage. He stated, "She demanded all economic rights and had my certificate and resident registration card. The only account I knew about was the one where my grants came in; I couldn't see any other accounts. The passwords had all been changed, so I had to report the loss to the bank to retrieve the passwords and check them."
He continued, "I heard many times that my check card had exceeded its limit. My ex-wife had a card with a limit of 20 to 30 million won and withdrew cash every month. People around me wondered why I handed over my certificate, as I constantly received calls until she took it. I felt like saying, 'Just leave me alone.' I went through a lot of emotional roller coasters, and the conflicts lasted until 2019." He mentioned that he eventually had to leave home.
Despite this, he explained the reason he couldn't decide on divorce, saying, "I was most afraid of going back to poverty. I was desperate to ensure my mother wouldn't have to work in a restaurant again," describing how he chose to forego divorce while preserving his career. Kim Byeong-man married a non-celebrity woman seven years his senior in 2011, but they divorced in 2023. His ex-wife's daughter was recently adopted.
Additionally, during the broadcast, Kim Byeong-man's first daughter 'Jjang-i' and second son 'Ddo-ki' appeared. He smiled proudly at his tall daughter and athletic son, noting, "They made me understand the word happiness. My wife is more than just a 'savior.'"
Moreover, Kim Byeong-man introduced his remarried wife, explaining, "We first met in 2006 and broke up at the end of 2007, but we reconnected after many years." His wife reminisced, "I didn't know he was a comedian back then. He was very active from the start. I felt that it would definitely go well."
The two met again after a long time due to his mother's suggestion. Kim Byeong-man expressed his love for his wife, saying, "I felt it was my home, my person. It's not just a family member; it's a home. It's a house I want to go to."
The next day, the couple visited the Jeju City Hall to complete their marriage registration. Kim Byeong-man remarked, "I've waited years for this moment," and his wife added, "It feels like I've solved a homework problem. I truly feel like we are a couple."
After registering their marriage, he said, "I think my parents in heaven would be happy. I thought, 'What excitement is there for a honeymoon at 50?' but I am excited," as he showed the receipt.
Regarding the reason for revealing his family, he stated, "I always felt sorry that I wasn't in the pictures of the kids. I want to show that we are living happily." He pledged, "I will live boldly without hiding," announcing a new start.
