Former announcer and broadcaster Baek Ji-yeon revealed her own health management diet.
On the 25th, a video titled "Breakfast Methods Essential for Women After 45" was uploaded to the channel 'Now Baek Ji-yeon'.
On that day, Baek Ji-yeon opened up, saying, "In the past, there was an atmosphere where young people didn't really care about health, but these days, regardless of age, everyone is very concerned about becoming healthy and pays a lot of attention to eating well, eating good food, and exercising. I want to be healthy. The reason I want to be healthy is that I really dislike being sick. I also dislike going to the hospital. Just sitting in the hospital for tests makes me think, 'While I'm sitting here, I might just get sick.' So, I have been increasingly thinking that I should take care of my diet."
She said, "I've been living a busy life since my 20s, rushed for time until my 50s. Back then, I worked hard and even if I didn't eat properly, I wasn't sick. But after turning 50 and 55, I started to feel that if I didn't eat properly, my body would feel weak. When I was busy with work, I would eat carelessly, as if half my diet consisted of flour and the other half of kimbap. Then I realized that I should change, asking myself, 'Why am I living? I want to live healthily and well, so I should eat good food.' That's why I changed my diet. Now, I want to introduce how I take care of my breakfast these days."
Baek Ji-yeon continued, "I pay the most attention to my diet. I exercise a lot, but no matter how much I exercise, the end of exercising is eating, right? You have to complete your diet for the exercise to be complete. Protein. Lately, I have been increasing the protein in each meal, removing instant foods, and reducing sugar and salt. I try to eliminate sugar as much as possible. I love sweets—I enjoy desserts, cakes, and snacks. This is the diet I am trying to reduce those. Thus, every morning I have boiled eggs. I don't eat yolk due to high cholesterol, just the whites (two), tofu, seaweed, and many vegetables. Then, to supplement carbohydrates, I include oatmeal. Sometimes I add potatoes, sweet potatoes, or whole-wheat bread."
She mentioned, "It's been two months since I composed my meals this way. After two months of eating like this, I realized that I don't feel bloated or uncomfortable anymore, and there's no post-meal drowsiness. I used to think that feeling sleepy after eating was normal, but it's not. The food coma is caused by a sugar spike. After hearing that, I changed my diet, and the food coma disappeared, making my body feel very light. I try to have vegetables of different colors as much as possible. They say that if you match the colors, you will get all the nutrients. Eating excess of any food is not good. Some days I eat like this, and other days I switch to different vegetables. If I eat one way one day, the next day I might eat kale, asparagus, or other vegetables, checking seasonally, since these days they're selling smaller packs of vegetables suitable for single-person households. I buy a little, eat it right away, and once that runs out, I buy a different vegetable to mix in."
He also mentioned that he makes yogurt from scratch, saying, "I eat yogurt three times a day. I love desserts so much that to suppress my desire to eat them, I eat homemade yogurt with fruits, blueberries, and a little nuts as a snack or dessert," adding, "At first, making it was very difficult, and I felt confused like I was living to eat or eating to live. But the more I do it, the better I get at it. I can't eat all three meals at home every day. Usually, maybe once or at most twice. I try to eat like this for breakfast as much as I can."
Baek Ji-yeon stated, "The goal of this diet I want is to lower my cholesterol levels so that I can hear 'you managed it well' regarding my cardiovascular health during checkups," adding, "Reducing flour and sugar. When I eat a lot of these, the desire for flour and sugar decreases a lot. Plus, it's quite filling, and it takes a long time to eat. Since I have to chew a lot, it's a diet that doesn't feel lonely even when I eat alone. The best part of this diet? When you eat like this, almost all foods taste good. Since there's no sugar or salt, there are times it feels a bit bland. But sometimes, if I go out and have a slice of whole-wheat bread, it tastes so good. Eating seasoned stir-fries or steamed dishes is so delicious. They say that if we keep eating strong flavors, our taste will age faster. Eventually, older folks might say they don't know what flavors are anymore. If we eat stimulating flavors, our taste buds might deteriorate quickly. But when we eat mildly, everything we taste when we go out feels delicious."
Especially, "I haven't eaten ramen for three months, and I really want it. But I'm trying to resist as much as I can. One day, I might have a cheating day and think, 'Oh, how tempting that would be to eat it.' However, the more I resist, the more the urge to eat sweet desserts decreases gradually. Even now, when I pass by a bakery and smell it, I have the urge to rush in and buy something, but I hope it will get better. In the end, it's better to eat like this than to get sick later," he remarked.
While she noted, "It's been two months since I started this diet, and I've heard that if a person changes their diet for three months, their body will change. What's the point of eating like this? You should live happily and enjoyably. Since I've been eating like this, it really lightens the body. You should definitely try it out. Even on lazy days, I sometimes just have two to three types of vegetables. It's a true statement that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Let's enjoy life. Let's talk again in three months about how our bodies change at that time," hinting at revealing her changed metrics then.
