Actor Ma Dong-seok not only created a new universe with 'Twelve' but also showcased an advanced punch action that surprised viewers and experts alike.
The first episode of 'Twelve', which premiered on the 23rd, recorded a nationwide rating of 8.1% (based on Nielsen Korea), achieving the top spot among all channels during its time slot, drawing significant attention. Furthermore, it topped various content popularity indicators including Key Only's 'overall content ranking', Disney+'s 'top 10 in Korea', and led in drama search volume on Naver, as well as trending on major portal sites and ranked first in Naver's real-time open talk rankings.
The punch action portrayed by Ma Dong-seok on TV shone even brighter when it met boxing techniques. Asian Games silver medalist Kim Hyung-kyu noted, "From a boxer's perspective, 'Twelve' utilizes more in-and-out stepping and even employs shoulder rolls, showcasing smooth techniques closer to outboxing, whereas 'Crime City' relied more on inside fighting like that of Mike Tyson, which broke through the opponent using boxing techniques."
The character Tai-san, played by Ma Dong-seok in 'Twelve', is one that has honed his skills over 5,000 years. He shows a more skilled side in boxing techniques compared to the character Ma Seok-do in 'Crime City'. Ma Dong-seok, transformed into Tai-san, exhibits boxing actions suited to the character. Boxing experts expressed their admiration, noting that it is impressive not only for the excitement it brings but also for a single person to exhibit various boxing styles.
