The group BTS has added a song with 1 billion streams on Spotify.
The title track 'FAKE LOVE' from their third studio album, 'LOVE YOURSELF 轉 'Tear'', released in May 2018, has surpassed 1 billion plays on the world's largest music streaming platform, Spotify (as of August 24). This song is BTS's fifth song overall to achieve 1 billion streams.
'FAKE LOVE' is an emo hip-hop genre that features grunge rock guitar sounds and groovy trap beats. It sings about realizing that the love one thought was destined was false. Expressing BTS's dark emotions, the song has received global love.
'FAKE LOVE' debuted at No. 10 on Billboard's main song chart, the Hot 100, and No. 42 on the Official Singles Chart in the UK. The album 'LOVE YOURSELF 轉 'Tear'', which contains this song, became the first album by a Korean artist to reach No. 1 on Billboard's main album chart, the Billboard 200, cementing K-pop's status worldwide.
As of the August 24 chart on Spotify, Jungkook has also achieved another song with 1 billion streams. His solo single '3D (feat. Jack Harlow)', released in September 2023, has surpassed 1 billion plays. With this, Jungkook now holds a total of four songs with 1 billion streams, following 'Seven (feat. Latto)', 'Standing Next to You', and 'Left and Right (Feat. Jung Kook of BTS)', marking the highest record among K-pop solo artists.
'3D (feat. Jack Harlow)' entered at No. 5 on both the Hot 100 and the Official Singles Chart upon release. This song is an R&B pop genre that embodies an old-school sound based on mid-2000s hip-hop and dance, conveying the message of wanting to meet 'you' in three dimensions and always be 'together'.
BTS has achieved 2 billion streams on Spotify with 'Dynamite'. 'My Universe', 'Butter', 'Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey)', and 'FAKE LOVE' have each recorded over 1 billion streams. A total of 127 group songs have surpassed 100 million plays.
