Shin Ah-young, a former announcer, revealed that she is teaching her 3-year-old daughter only Korean.
On the 22nd, a video titled "From advanced maternal age pregnancy to elite parenting! A sensational baby shower for successful sisters" was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Choi Eun-kyung's Management Office.'
On this day, Choi Eun-kyung and Shin Ah-young presented a surprise baby shower party for the pregnant Park Eun-young. After the successful surprise, the three shared various stories about pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare.
Park Eun-young said, "I am attending an English kindergarten. However, while they use English here, it's not through rote learning but rather a play-based English kindergarten. In the past, we used to do a lot of rote learning, but recently, I feel that mothers' thoughts are changing."
Choi Eun-kyung asked, "Does going to an English kindergarten mean they will become good at English?" Park Eun-young explained, "That's right. Once they go to an ordinary elementary school, they won't be taught English, so their skills drop significantly. That's why mothers send them to such academies."
Then Choi Eun-kyung said to Shin Ah-young, "But you speak English, right?" Shin Ah-young replied, "Our baby doesn't speak English. I intentionally didn't expose her to it."
She continued, "In fact, it's good to learn many languages. That's true, but since she is currently living in Korea with Korean parents and everything is done in Korean, I thought it would be better for her to fully immerse herself in Korean, so I just keep exposing her to Korean."
Additionally, Shin Ah-young mentioned, "Recently, there was something that made me wonder if this was right. My aunt took my daughter to a playground. However, there was a group of boys who seemed to be around elementary school age, and I think my daughter wanted to play with them."
She continued, "But one of those boys said he wouldn't play with kids who can't speak English. I thought that while it's not discrimination since she lives in Korea, I wondered if it's right to hear such things."
Meanwhile, Park Eun-young asked, "When the two of them fight, don't they fight in English?" Choi Eun-kyung curious, asked, "If they fight in English, do 'mother' and 'father' come up?" To this, Shin Ah-young joked, "That's right. 'Mother', 'father', and 'gentleman' all come up."
On the other hand, Shin Ah-young, who joined SBS ESPN and made her debut as an announcer on the SBSsports channel, revealed her impressive credentials as a Harvard University graduate, fluent in a total of four languages: English, German, and Spanish.
In particular, Shin Ah-young married a fellow Harvard University alumnus who is two years younger in December 2018 and welcomed her daughter in September 2022.
