Super Junior member Kim Hee-chul shared his feelings about performing on stage with Super Junior after a long time.
He posted a lengthy message on his YouTube channel community on the 25th, saying, "I have completed the Korean version of Super Show. I experienced happy pains like body aches and muscle pains. I, a man, loved and adored the stage so much."
Earlier, Kim Hee-chul was involved in a car accident in 2006, resulting in injuries categorized as 12 weeks of treatment, including a femur fracture and ankle fracture. He underwent a major surgery that involved inserting seven steel pins and was reportedly assessed with a grade 4 disability.
He recalled, "I had to receive an exemption from military training due to my condition, and when I went to the hospital for an examination, I was told that I might really not be able to walk and that long flights were also out of the question.. The journey to receive a disability rating was truly chaotic. After much consideration, I denied reality and simply returned home."
He continued, "As my left side sank, my face and body became asymmetrical, and the problem was that my mental state began to deteriorate as well. I had been living with the thought that it was better not to do something poorly, which caused me to gradually drift away from the stage, and whenever I was with the members or saw a stage without me, feelings of nostalgia and regret kept emerging, leading me to intentionally turn away and avoid it."
Kim Hee-chul, who returned to the stage through Super Junior's 20th anniversary activities this year, expressed, "Super Junior activities have been an unparalleled dopamine for me. Though it has almost all vanished, I believe that the lingering emotions will be automatically healed as I go on the Super Show tour," revealing his affection for the fans and members.
Meanwhile, Super Junior met with fans during their 20th anniversary commemorative tour 'SUPER SHOW 10' held at KSPO DOME in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, from the 22nd to the 24th.
The following is the full text of Kim Hee-chul's message.
I have completed the Korean version of Super Show.
I experienced happy pains like body aches and muscle pains.
I, a man,
loved and adored the stage so much.
It seems like it was 10 years ago.
I had to receive an exemption from military training, and when I went to the hospital for an examination,
I was told that I might really not be able to walk and that long flights were also out of the question..
The journey to receive a disability rating was truly chaotic.
After much consideration, I denied reality and simply returned home.
As my left side sank, my face and body became asymmetrical,
and the problem was that my mental state began to deteriorate.
I had lived with the thought that it would be better not to do something poorly,
which caused me to gradually drift away from the stage.
Whenever I was with the members or saw a stage without me,
feelings of nostalgia and regret kept emerging, leading me to intentionally turn away and avoid it.
I originally hated being a singer and the stage.
I could live well just with variety shows.. Variety is my path.
It's not that I couldn't perform due to my leg injury; I simply did not want to.
Fans who desire Kim Hee-chul of Super Junior,
Fans who love Kim Hee-chul on stage.
I thought I could no longer satisfy them and deliberately pushed them away.
It's not some third-rate romance movie, and it's true haha.
I'm like this, and you were disappointed in me? I'm trash! Hurry and leave!
Yet I turned around, coughing, longing for her..
Super Junior activities were an unparalleled dopamine for me.
Though it has almost all vanished, I believe that the lingering emotions in my heart will
be automatically healed as I go on the Super Show tour.
I am now twenty years old! A never-ending youth, Kim Hee-chul! I'm an idol!
I love you, E. L. F.
I love you, Super Junior.
