The group BOYNEXTDOOR set a new record on Oricon with their Japanese single.
According to Oricon's announcement on 26th, BOYNEXTDOOR (Seongho, Riu, Myungjae-hyun, Taesan, Ihan, Unhak) sold approximately 346,000 copies of their second Japanese single 'BOYLIFE' in its first week, reaching the top of the 'weekly single ranking' (counting period: Aug. 18-24).
This is nearly double the team's previous record for first-week sales of their Japanese debut single 'AND,' which was released in July last year and sold approximately 187,000 copies. Notably, BOYNEXTDOOR is the only foreign artist this year to sell over 300,000 copies in the first week in Japan, topping the 'weekly single ranking.'
'BOYLIFE' is an album that captures the vivid emotions of youth that anyone can relate to at least once. BOYNEXTDOOR has created an album with lyrics that can be broadly empathized with, making it easy to listen to. The original Japanese title track 'Count To Love' is a song that likens the realistic feelings between lovers to the act of counting, featuring an attractive sound with strong guitar and drum elements. Taesan participated in the song's composition, adding to the team's distinct color.
BOYNEXTDOOR continues their activities by appearing in various music broadcasts and special programs in Japan. They will showcase their new song stage on TBS 'CDTV LIVE! LIVE!' on Sept. 1. Additionally, they have been selected as the featured artist for TV Asahi's music variety show 'M:ZINE' in September, participating in a three-week special broadcast from Sept. 5 to 19.
