KBS announcer Kim Jin-woong, who caused controversy by saying, "the wife of Jang Yoon-jung's sub" regarding former announcer Do Kyung-wan, apologized, calling it a "reckless remark."
On the 25th, Kim Jin-woong stated on his Instagram, "I apologize for causing concern to Do Kyung-wan and Jang Yoon-jung sunbaenim due to my reckless remarks on the broadcast today." He continued, "I also extend my apologies to viewers and fans who may have felt uncomfortable because of this."
He noted, "I still lack experience, and since this opportunity feels precious to me, I was so eager that I did not exercise caution, which resulted in me saying something I should not have."
Kim Jin-woong said, "Especially, Do Kyung-wan sunbaenim encouraged me even when I was working regionally and was always kind enough to tell me to reach out if I was ever hungry, showing concern for junior colleagues, yet I caused great trouble, and I sincerely feel remorse."
He expressed, "Through this incident, I deeply felt how hurtful thoughtless remarks can be, and I will always maintain vigilance to ensure such an incident does not happen again." He added, "I sincerely apologize."
The problematic remarks came from the KBS2 show "Boss's Ears are Donkey Ears," which aired the previous day. During the show, announcer Eom Ji-in mentioned that junior colleagues Kim Jin-woong and Kim Jong-hyun visited a marriage agency, saying, "Among the male juniors, Do Kyung-wan is the one who has gotten married the best," and added, "While his wife is on a nationwide tour, he proactively supports her and does more broadcasting after getting married."
In response, Kim Jin-woong said, "I cannot live like Do Kyung-wan sunbaenim. It may be a disrespectful remark to sunbaenim, but I cannot live as someone's sub." When Eom Ji-in asked, "Why is Do Kyung-wan a sub?" Kim Jin-woong replied, "I apologize to sunbaenim, and it might be disrespectful, but it seems it wouldn't be easy."
Following this broadcast, Jang Yoon-jung expressed her discomfort directly via Instagram. She wrote, "We have no acquaintance... Haha. Words or actions that cannot make the other party laugh cannot be wrapped as 'jokes' or 'pranks.' There is no 'sub' within family."
Jang Yoon-jung later posted an additional message, stating that she received a direct apology from Kim Jin-woong. She said, "I am grateful that so many people empathized with my post and comforted my upset heart. Thank you so very much," and added, "Just a moment ago, I received a text from an unknown number, and (Kim Jin-woong) contacted me after finding my number to convey his apologies."
She continued, "It must have taken courage to apologize, and I believe we should accept it for the sake of that heart." She concluded, "I won't ramble. I hope there will be abundance, happiness, and good fortune in the future."
