CORTIS, the 'Big Hit Music rookie,' has surged explosively after appearing on music broadcasts.
CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Seonghyun, Gunho) kicked off with Mnet's 'M Countdown' on the 21st, followed by KBS 2TV's 'Music Bank' on the 22nd, MBC's 'Show! Music Core' on the 23rd, and SBS's 'Inkigayo' on the 24th, where they performed the title track 'What You Want' and the intro track 'GO!' on stage.
The number of followers on CORTIS's official Instagram account surged sharply after their first music broadcast on the 21st, surpassing one million around 7 a.m. on the 24th. The follower count increased by about 22% in just three days. During the same period, the subscriber count on their official YouTube channel grew from 150,000 to 290,000, an increase of over 93%. Additionally, the title track entered the Korean Apple Music 'Top 100' chart at number 91 (as of Aug. 20) and climbed to 41st on the latest chart (as of Aug. 23), gaining momentum in popularity.
This is evidence that CORTIS's fresh approach has captivated the public. The five members showcased a unique performance on treadmills in 'What You Want.' Instead of the usual synchronized dancing for rookie groups, the team's individuality shone through. Their solid vocal skills also played a significant role in increasing their recognition. They received great responses for both the live broadcast and the fancams, with K-pop fans praising, "It's rare to see an idol perform live in the first week of activities," "I really like how they improvise differently each time," and "There are no holes in their skills."
After making a strong impression on stage, CORTIS released dance practice and rehearsal videos consecutively on their official YouTube channel. Although the content is usually typical during this phase of activities, CORTIS's videos were different. They vividly captured the sounds of sneakers, the members' interjections, and even scenes of exhaustion after pouring everything into their performances. Instead of just presenting a polished version, CORTIS shared the raw processes of practice and production, showcasing their unique take.
CORTIS appeared on KBS Cool FM's 'Park Myung Soo's Radio Show' on the 25th. Outside the studio, a crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the members, reflecting their popularity. Although CORTIS felt shy during their first radio appearance, they showcased their skills with a stable performance of the title track 'What You Want,' adding interjections that highlighted their abilities. Their smoothness was not typical for rookies, garnering praise from DJ Park Myung Soo.
