This controversy originated from the KBS2 entertainment program 'The Boss's Ears Are Donkey Ears' aired on the 24th. While being interviewed by a marriage information company, Kim Jin-woong remarked, 'I can't live like senior Do Kyung-wan. It may be disrespectful to say this about a senior, but I can't live as someone's sub.'
Immediately after the broadcast, Jang Yoon-jung expressed her discomfort through social media, saying, 'There is no friendship, but... haha... remarks or actions that the other party cannot laugh at cannot be disguised as 'jokes' or 'playfulness.' There is no 'sub' in family.'
As the controversy intensified, Kim Jin-woong posted a lengthy apology on social media on the 25th. He stated, 'I apologize for causing concern to senior Do Kyung-wan and Jang Yoon-jung with my thoughtless remarks,' and added, 'I sincerely apologize for the discomfort caused to the viewers and fans.'
He continued, 'My lack of experience led to my eagerness outweighing my caution. In particular, senior Do Kyung-wan has always been someone who took care of me warmly since my early days in local duties; nevertheless, I caused great trouble.'
Jang Yoon-jung accepted Kim Jin-woong's apology and put the situation to rest. She noted, 'I received a message from an unknown number conveying the apology. It must have taken courage to apologize, and considering that sentiment, I believe I should accept it.'
She also stated, 'I am grateful that many people empathized with my post and comforted my upset heart. I hope happiness and fortune shine upon the future.'
