Yoon Si-yoon reveals hidden family history behind 'obsessive cleaner'... "Living in a one-room apartment is the root of my cleaning obsession"
Actor Yoon Si-yoon shared the family history that lies behind the story of the 'obsessive cleaner' in My Little Old Boy (hereinafter referred to as My Little Old Boy).
On the 24th, during the broadcast of SBS's entertainment program My Little Old Boy, Yoon Si-yoon revealed a special travel story to Mongolia that he took with his mother. Previously, he had shown a level of cleaning obsession by vacuuming three or more times a day and washing cushions and sofa covers whenever guests came, earning him the nickname 'the obsessive cleaner'. The cast was impressed, saying, "It's at museum level".
During this trip, Yoon Si-yoon and his mother booked a modern ger for convenience instead of a traditional ger to begin their journey. Yoon Si-yoon amazed the studio by sorting out the luggage he had packed meticulously from Korea, one by one. When his mother said, "Let's just do it hastily and go out," it turned the location into a sea of laughter.
The two recalled their childhood living in a one-room apartment on the Mongolian grasslands. Yoon Si-yoon shared, "Because I had to share a communal bathroom with other family members, I still have an obsession that the bathroom must be clean," revealing the story that rooted his cleaning obsession. Yoon Si-yoon remembered, "I had to use the bathroom, but the man next door came out after smoking," while his mother added, "Then we moved to another house next door. A few years later, we moved into a house with a bathroom and I was so happy," noting, "It wasn't shared; it was our very own bathroom."
Yoon Si-yoon also said, "It felt good to finally have our own bathroom at home," remembering," It was the toilet of the previous owner, but I remember my mom cleaning it thoroughly and telling me to use it first." His mother shared, "Back then, I was holding the toilet tank and leaning against the wall, sitting there for a while," and added, "Having our own bathroom felt like a dream; it gave me a sense of accomplishment after more than ten years."
Afterward, Yoon Si-yoon stated, "When I sit alone in a large bathroom now, I feel like I've achieved my dream. That's why I clean it even more thoroughly," explaining how his childhood experiences are connected to his current cleaning obsession. In the studio, voices of admiration echoed, saying, "It seems like you had a hard upbringing. You've really succeeded."
He also conveyed, "My mother couldn't enjoy her youth while raising me in her 20s. I wanted to give her back even a little of the youth she lost during this trip." His mother also shared, "I had regrets about my education, so I have been studying middle school courses again while attending an adult school," which touched the studio.
Yoon Si-yoon revealed his thoughts as a devoted son, saying, "I wanted to travel to Mongolia with my mom because she couldn't enjoy her youth raising me in her 20s." His mother also shouted, "My wonderful son, Si-yoon, I love you!" which brought a touching moment.
