Kim Kang-woo unveiled his love for his wife, stating, "the closest friend he has shared half of his life with."
On the 22nd episode of KBS2TV Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant, actor Kim Kang-woo drew attention by sharing a special love story with his wife.
As a passionate chef, Kim Kang-woo incorporates love and daily life into his cooking. He married his wife in 2010 after an eight-year romance and is now celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary this year. He expressed a unique affection, stating, "My wife and I have shared half of my 47 years of life together."
Kim Kang-woo shared a letter he wrote to his wife, conveying his deep feelings. The letter read, "The 23 years have given me dazzlingly beautiful times. My closest friend and wife." He noted, "I used to be more aloof because I felt shy expressing it verbally, but I conveyed my sincerity 120% in writing," adding, "I probably wrote at least 100 letters over the past 23 years, around 3 to 4 letters a year." He also mentioned that the response rate from his wife is about 1 in 4.
He openly discussed arguments as well. Kim Kang-woo said, "How can people not fight? Even if there are disagreements, we always reconcile on the same day," adding, "We show our children the process of reconciliation and end it with hugs or kisses."
During the broadcast, Kim Kang-woo was seen discovering a letter from his wife while teaching his two sons how to cook. He said, "I was embarrassed and tried not to read it, but I felt emotional because of menopause," showing signs of tearing up before reading. The letter read, "My eternal companion, Husband Kang-woo. You are someone I am grateful for and rely on. I'm so happy to have met you. Let's enjoy the remaining life like friends, praising and supporting each other. I love you, cutie. Your friend Mu-young." Kim Kang-woo wiped away tears of emotion.
Kim Kang-woo clearly remembered his first meeting with his wife. He recounted, "When I was 25, I saw a beautiful woman at a bar and fell in love at first sight," and continued, "As fate would have it, a mutual friend called her name, revealing that she was someone I knew. We were almost set up on a blind date, yet we met right there as if it was destined. Our first meeting was on December 7, 2002."
After eight years of dating, the couple married on June 18, 2010, and this year marks 23 years together. Kim Kang-woo introduced his wife as "sincere, kind, and my closest friend," emphasizing that they have kept the promise written in his wedding letter to "live together joyfully as a couple and friends" for 15 years. He declared, "I still love her," revealing his profound affection.
