Singer Lyn and MC the Max's Lee Soo have ended their 11-year marriage.
On the 22nd, representatives for Lyn and Lee Soo said, "The two have agreed to walk their own paths based on sufficient conversation and mutual respect, and are currently concluding their divorce process. This is not a result of any wrongdoing or reasons attributable to either party, and we inform you that this decision was made amicably."
They added, "The two artists have maintained a good partnership based on a deep understanding and respect for each other's music and artistic activities through their 11 years of marriage. Although their legal relationship has been concluded, they will continue to support each other from their respective positions as musical colleagues," noting that both Lyn and Lee Soo are still active under 325E&C and plan to continue their individual musical activities.
"We hope you will refrain from distorted or indiscriminate speculative reporting and ask for your warm support," they added.
Lyn and Lee Soo, who married in 2014, have solidified their identity as a "musician couple" through their musical exchanges. Lee Soo established 325E&C after the end of his exclusive contract in 2016, and Lyn has also continued her activities with the company. Last year, they released a duet project album "Friendlyn," showcasing their strong musical chemistry.
The marriage was not without its challenges. Lee Soo had previously received a deferred indictment for charges of soliciting a minor in 2009, before their marriage, which continued to be a source of controversy afterward. While Lyn stood up for her husband in public, she also revealed her own burdens and struggles. She confessed her feelings at the time on the YouTube channel "PDC by PDC," saying, "I was pointed at for not having a good image and misunderstood as being insincere."
In 2023, Lyn proudly displayed her unwavering affection for her husband on their anniversary. At that time, Lyn expressed her thoughts while taking photos for their 9th anniversary, saying, "I think it's good to leave behind changes. It's fun. I recommend it."
Additionally, the two visited a restaurant reserved by Lee Soo, where during their meal, Lyn asked, "Haven't we lived for 9 years? What do you think it will be like going forward? I think it will feel comfortable, right?" Lee Soo responded, "That's true, and marriage is a process of two people meeting and harmonizing. Especially after living completely different lives for 20 to 30 years, the moment you get married doesn't mean you suddenly harmonize. As time goes by, it seems to harmonize better." He continued, "You couldn't eat meat, and I didn't eat kimchi. Our preferences have adjusted to each other, and you were an E but now seem to be more I, while I was an I but now show E tendencies. It seems like we blend well together."
Lyn also expressed affection while hinting at a 'duet song' for their 10th anniversary, saying, "It feels like just yesterday on the day we got married, and already 9 years have passed. Especially since I think it's commendable that we've managed well together. Having gone through a time of understanding each other over these 9 years, let's do something meaningful for our 10th anniversary."
However, putting aside this affection, the two have decided to divorce. Although their marriage has ended, respect for each other's music remains unchanged. A representative stated, "The divorce is not a fault of either party, but a decision made after sufficient understanding of each other," adding, "They will continue to perform on their respective stages." In fact, the two are expected to continue their activities at their agency 325E&C, and there will be no changes to their scheduled performances this year.
Since her debut in 2000, Lyn has become a representative female vocalist in the music industry, receiving great love for drama OSTs such as "Time to Turn Back" and "My Destiny." Lee Soo debuted with the band Moonchild and later reorganized as MC the Max, leaving several hit songs such as "Don't Be Happy" and "Nowhere," actively working as a leading vocalist in Korean rock ballad.
