Singer Lyn and MC the Max's Lee Soo have ended their 11-year marriage and will go their separate ways. The news of their separation is even more shocking considering Lyn had continued to support Lee Soo amidst the controversy surrounding his involvement in underage prostitution that arose before their marriage.
On the 22nd, the agency 325E&C released an official statement saying, "Lyn and Lee Soo have agreed to walk their respective paths based on sufficient dialogue and mutual respect, and they are currently finalizing their divorce proceedings. It is not due to any wrongdoing or fault of either party, but a decision made amicably."
The statement continued, "The two artists have maintained a good partnership for 11 years, with a deep understanding and respect for each other's musical and artistic activities. Although their legal relationship is ending, their musical camaraderie is expected to continue."
Lee Soo and Lyn, who are of the same age, got married in 2014 and established themselves as a 'musician couple' through their musical exchanges and duet activities. However, there has always been a shadow over their marriage.
This is because Lee Soo has been tainted by a previous controversy after being given a deferred prosecution for charges related to underage prostitution in 2009. The controversy lingered even after their marriage, and Lyn often took the brunt of public criticism on behalf of her husband. In 2019, when an internet user mentioned Lee Soo's past, Lyn responded, "While the prostitution is true, falsehoods also run rampant," and engaged in a heated rebuttal, insisting, "I will let you know the facts when we meet face to face."
Recently, Lyn confessed her difficulties during a YouTube channel episode, stating, "I was criticized for not having a good image. My husband felt sorry about it, but I felt sorrier." She added, "I just wanted to say that it was not true; I wanted to win the fight. I didn't think it was helpful for either of us. Now I realize that was wrong, and I have learned to pause and be quiet."
Even until last year, the couple showcased a strong affection for each other. On their 9th wedding anniversary, they reminisced about their married life while celebrating at a restaurant. Lyn asked, "Haven't we been living for 9 years? What do you think the future will hold? I think it will just feel comfortable." Lee Soo replied, "That's true; marriage is a process of two people meeting and harmonizing. Especially when two individuals live completely different lives for 20-30 years, they don't immediately blend at the moment of marriage. Over time, it seems to harmonize better."
During their 10th anniversary, they also showcased their enduring musical synergy by releasing their first duet album, "Friendlyn." However, despite this, the couple ultimately chose to go their separate ways.
Although the marriage filled with challenges has come to an end, each artist's musical journey continues. The agency emphasized, "The divorce was a decision reached after sufficient understanding of each other," and stated, "They will continue to engage in activities on their respective stages." The two are still active in the same agency, and their performances scheduled for this year will continue as planned.
Lyn, who had sheltered her husband amidst the controversies that began even before their marriage, has ultimately become legally separated from Lee Soo after 11 years. Now, they will remain as "musical colleagues" instead of a "couple."
