Actor Lee Shin-young stars in the running drama 'Power Run' (directed by Lee Seung-hoon, produced by Heyday Production), which is set to exclusively release in Lotte Cinema on Sept. 10, drawing attention. He gained recognition across Asia through 'Crash Landing on You,' and is expected to captivate audiences with his deepened acting and charm in this work.
- "I run just because I love running"…the pure sprint of youth
In 'Power Run,' Lee Shin-young plays the role of Kang Seung-yeol, who boasted speed faster than a ball during his soccer club days. Following his first love onto the track, he is a youth who chooses the joy of running itself over records or entrance exams. In the story, Seung-yeol faces off against Korea's top record holder Kang Gu-young (Ha Seok-jin), showcasing moments of pure passion and growth without limits. As Gu-young, who has fallen due to injury, divorce, and drug allegations, and Seung-yeol, who pursues the pure joy of running, stand at the starting line for their own reasons, they embark on a sprint toward a "perfect ending."
- First leading role on screen + transformation in acting
Lee Shin-young has been praised for his stable acting and clear character interpretation in dramas 'Crash Landing on You,' 'Romantic Doctor Kim Sabu 3,' and the film 'Rebound.' In this work, he completes a multifaceted character embodying both purity and decisiveness within the genre of running drama, displaying a strong presence fitting for his first leading role on screen. The production team noted, "Lee Shin-young is an actor who can capture the energy and emotional line of youth simultaneously," adding, "his true value will shine even brighter in 'Power Run.'"
- Global distribution and attention leading to the next project
'Power Run' has garnered attention from the global film industry even before its domestic release. Myriad Pictures in Los Angeles has secured overseas distribution rights, excluding Korea, and conducted worldwide sales at the Busan International Film Festival ACFM (Asian Contents & Film Market). Myriad Pictures Vice President Kim Jae-woo stated, "Lee Shin-young is an emerging star gaining attention in Asia," and remarked, "His positive energy will be loved by audiences worldwide."
Currently, Lee Shin-young is working on director Park Hoon-jung's upcoming global action project 'Sad Tropics,' where he plays 'Ru,' one of five members of a killer organization raised by the absolute ruler of the rainforest. This role is expected to showcase a heavier performance that transcends his previous youthful image.
Meanwhile, 'Power Run' is produced by Heyday Production, distributed by Redice Entertainment and Sam Baek Sanghoe, and has a runtime of 93 minutes. It draws inspiration from the mere 0.02 seconds difference between Korea's men's 100m record of 10.07 seconds and the world championship standard of 10.05 seconds, combining realism with cinematic imagination to capture 'the courage to face one's own abilities' and 'the struggle to overcome limits.' It will be exclusively released in Lotte Cinema on Sept. 10.
