Kim Jeong-min's second son, Dani Daichi (Korean name Kim Do-yun), has been selected again as a member of the Japan national soccer team.
On the 21st, the Japan Football Association (JFA) announced the roster for the international friendly match in Limoges, France, scheduled for September, in which Dani Daichi is included. Japan will face France, Portugal, and Saudi Arabia in this tournament.
This is Dani's second selection for the Japan national team. He participated as a representative from Japan in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifiers held in Saudi Arabia last year, leaving a strong impression by scoring 4 goals against Nepal and 2 goals against Qatar.
Born in 2008, Dani is the second son of Kim Jeong-min and his Japanese wife Rumiko, holding dual citizenship in Korea and Japan. He transferred to the J-League club Sagan Tosu in 2023 after playing for the Seoul Shinjeong Elementary School soccer team and FC Seoul Youth Team at Osan Middle School. Currently, he is active with the Japan U-17 national team. His potential makes it difficult for Korean soccer to not feel a sense of loss.
In an interview with the Japanese media "Soccer Digest" last year, Dani stated, "I decided to go to Japan because I wanted to play for a stronger team. I started playing at the Sagan Tosu academy in my third year of junior high school." His father, Kim Jeong-min, also noted, "My son did not naturalize in Japan. Both countries are his homeland," and added, "Soccer is just soccer; going to Europe is his dream."
Kim Jeong-min married Rumiko in 2006 and has three sons. Currently, his wife Rumiko is living in Japan with their three sons, while Kim Jeong-min is living alone in Korea, continuing a long-distance family life.
Meanwhile, the couple Kim Jeong-min and Rumiko will appear on tvN STORY's "Gakjib Bubu," which premieres on the 28th, showcasing their life between Korea and Japan.
