Mr. Yang Chi-seung, who became famous as a health trainer for stars such as BTS's Jin, actors Kim Woo-bin, Sung-hoon, and Choi Kang-hee, has closed his gym. Meanwhile, he is said to have been scammed by a fan, bringing shock once again.
On the 21st, MBC's 'True Story' aired an episode where Yang Chi-seung revealed the fraud case he experienced in 2023 and the process leading to the closure of his gym.
Previously, Yang Chi-seung opened a gym in the building of the No. 1 public parking lot in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, in 2019, expressing his aspiration to "want to work here for a long time." At that time, he signed a contract directly with a fan, referred to as Mr. A, without going through a real estate agency. Mr. A encouraged Yang Chi-seung, saying, "I hope you last 10 or 20 years," and Yang successfully renewed the contract twice in 2021 and 2023 while operating his gym.
However, in January 2023, less than a month after re-signing, he received an eviction notice and a claim for damages from the Gangnam District Office, stating that he was "illegally occupying the building." Upon later checking the registry, Yang Chi-seung learned about the complicated circumstances regarding the building and the fraudulent nature of the landlord, whom he believed to be a fan.
Yang Chi-seung expressed remorse on the show, saying, "I bear a large responsibility for not checking beforehand," but later realized that many people had suffered similar damages. Victims pointed out that "the sudden eviction notice and lack of prior notice worsened the situation," criticizing the local government's management.
In particular, Yang Chi-seung, who closed his gym due to fraud, showed a more 'haggard' appearance in a recently released update compared to when he was running the gym, evoking sympathy. Although he gained fame as a star trainer, his confession about the painful experience from the unexpected fraud case is making headlines again.
