JDB Entertainment, the first Korean entertainment company to enter a Chinese platform channel, has been sailing smoothly for two months.
JDB Entertainment has been continuing its broadcasts smoothly for two months since signing an exclusive contract for video transmission with the Chinese platform Sun Mandu PD.
This achievement is interesting after nearly nine years. This project, expected to be a fresh breeze in the broadcasting industry amid a diplomatic and cultural disconnect referred to as the 'Korean Wave ban', has been carried out in a completely new way. JDB Entertainment's works are recognized as a property and qualify for direct supply broadcast through the Chinese platform, making it a noteworthy case of opening up yet another unprecedented distribution channel.
Sun Mandu PD of Mountain Movement Story noted, "As one of the methods to supply directly, continuous broadcasting is the answer, and we've seen videos that exceed expectations in terms of performance, indicating that interest in JDB Entertainment's entertainment programs is growing. After assessing the market through broadcasting, JDB Entertainment is also developing a new concept program for direct production based on the data."
Hong Hyun-woo, an executive in charge of broadcasting Korean content, which has been viewed as illegal for a long time, said, "Since this is our first challenge, I didn't have high expectations. I was anxious about the influence of a broadcasting platform that has been cut off for so long, and I was also fearful of adapting to an unfamiliar system. However, after seeing the achievements of the past two months, I feel like I am starting to understand the accurate system of the Chinese platform, which is difficult to express in words. Ultimately, the effort to reach local audiences is the priority, and we are also conducting in-depth research on broadcasts with high viewership. Additionally, I was surprised by the Chinese policy that allows illegal broadcasters to be shut down with just one document, thus protecting copyrights."
He added, "I was surprised by the differences from the image I had of China, and they have strict policies that acknowledge and protect copyrights, which is reassuring."
Hwang Ji-seon, the general manager of Mountain Movement Story, which oversees Sun Mandu PD, stated, "The Chinese platform, which started three years ago, has entered a stabilization phase, and as a result, we have imposed regulations on illegal videos while airing Korean entertainment programs. This has helped protect JDB Entertainment's works, allowing for smooth broadcasting." He added, "By adhering to the laws and cultures of all countries worldwide, we can become a platform in that country, and we are currently conducting a new concept talk concert with JDB Entertainment. We will bring good news to Korea's entertainment industry."
