ChoA, a former member of AOA, revealed the behind-the-scenes of her departure.
On the 20th, a video titled "Is it because of BLACKPINK and TWICE?" was posted on the YouTube channel 'This is the real final.'
In the video, ChoA and former Crayon Pop member Soyul appeared as guests, during which ChoA shared the background of her departure from AOA.
She confessed, "I dreamed of being an idol and debuted, but it seemed like no matter how hard I worked, it wasn't going to work out. And just then, BLACKPINK and TWICE came out. Seeing such friends as a newcomer made me think, 'This must be my high point.'"
She continued, "I thought it wouldn't be possible to work harder here. If I did more, I would go half-mad, so I decided to leave while I could still applaud." Hearing this, Soyul said, "You're someone who thinks things through and makes decisions alone."
Then ChoA said, "That's right. So the members probably won't like me." She smiled and added, "But now it seems difficult to push myself mentally. I thought, I want to find my own happiness. I came out with a lot of courage to be hated. I think I would still choose to leave if I went back now."
In particular, she shared her struggles due to malicious comments, saying, "There are still people who think I am married. Since I debuted during a time when I was really doing well, it's puzzling to me. What reason would I have to quit if it wasn't marriage? That's how it happened," she added, "I am not married yet."
Meanwhile, ChoA debuted in the group AOA in 2012 and announced her departure in June 2017. Last year, member Shin Hyejeong remarked on 'No Backing Down Tak Jae-hoon' about AOA's current status, saying, "Right now, I don't keep in touch with any of the members. I'm watching what they're doing in real-time on Instagram," and when comedian Shin Gyu-jin asked, "Have you reconciled?" she replied, "Not yet," drawing attention.
