Singer Park Sang-cheol has been elected as the 8th president of the Korea Singers Association.
The Korea Singers Association announced on the 21st that Park Sang-cheol was elected by receiving 128 votes out of 228 in the election held at the association's office in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on the 20th. His term is four years.
Choi Yu-na, who also ran for president, received 100 votes.
Park Sang-cheol, who debuted in 2000, is a trot singer known for hits like "Ja-ok-a" and "Mujogeon."
Through a speech, Park Sang-cheol stated, "I have worked hard slowly but steadily from the bottom to become a singer I have dreamed of since my school days. I loved singing and wanted to be a singer," adding, "I am dreaming once again and striving to realize it."
Park Sang-cheol has pledged to revive the Korea Singers Association's Day, activate the association's YouTube channel, promote the legal organization of a representative group in the entertainment sector, and strengthen the association's performance capabilities.
The newly elected directors include Hyun Dang, Kang Hye-yeon, Park Sang-min, Geum Jeon-di, Kim Hee-jin, Ok-hee, Peter Pan, and Shin Yu. Kim Si-dong will serve as the auditor.
If there are any objections to this election, they can be submitted in writing with specific evidence to the association's election management committee within three days from the election date, the 20th.
