The 13th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF) has successfully completed its first semester with the newly launched Dongseo University Comedy Academy and is now preparing for the second semester.
The 13th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF), set to open on the 29th, is enhancing its role in building a cultural arts foundation in the region. Starting this year, to foster comedy talent, it has officially opened a major course in 'comedy acting' in collaboration with local Dongseo University, operating a comedy academy. This is significant in that it aims to cultivate new professionals through a systematic education curriculum.
The academy's faculty includes BICF chief Cho Yoon-ho, who has been appointed as the lead professor, along with Kim Jun-ho, executive chairman, Jeon Yu-seong, honorary chairman, and Choi Dae-woong, deputy executive chairman, who are actively participating from the Busan International Comedy Festival organizing committee. Additionally, comedians Park Seong-ho, Lim Woo-il, and Jo Jun-woo from Ongals are also involved, completing a strong lineup and delivering passionate lectures to the students.
In particular, students who completed the first semester will have the honor of performing on the 'Gag Concert' stage on the 30th, experiencing the audience's response live in between segments. Attention is focused on what kind of laughter this first stage created together with the BICF will bring.
As the 'Comedy Academy' successfully reaps the fruits of the first semester, the second semester of the Comedy Academy will begin in September. BICF chief Cho Yoon-ho stated that from the first week of September, in-depth lectures will follow based on a solid curriculum encompassing theory, practice, and evaluation, including 'History of Comedy' and 'Character Analysis' every Wednesday.
BICF executive chairman Kim Jun-ho noted, "I am pleased that we successfully concluded the first semester of the Comedy Academy with instructors representing Korean comedy and practical-oriented lectures. The second semester is also prepared with sound curriculum for more practical classes. We will do our best to nurture K-comedy talent."
Meanwhile, the 13th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF) will be held across Busan for ten days from August 29th to September 7th. The festival promises a variety of performances that will captivate fans both domestically and internationally, including the iconic blue carpet, the opening performance, upgraded theater performances, and the closing performance 'I Am a Dog Singer,' led by MC Lee Hong-ryeol, blending comedy and music.
