The actor and model Lee Un (이언), who has passed away, left this world 17 years ago due to a sudden motorcycle accident.
Lee Un was riding his motorcycle home after finishing the wrap party for the KBS drama 'Choi Kang Chil Woo' on the early morning of Aug. 21, 2008, when he crashed into a guardrail at Hannam Intersection, ending his life at the age of 27. The unexpected news shocked not only his colleagues and broadcast personnel but also his fans.
During his lifetime, he gained attention by winning a gold medal in wrestling at the National Sports Festival in 1997, and after that, he began his career in the entertainment industry.
After making his film debut in 2006 with the movie 'The Greatest' (천하장사 마돈나), he caught attention with his unique charm, and in 2007, he starred as Hwang Min Yeob in the MBC drama 'Coffee Prince' along with Gong Yoo, Yoon Eun Hye, Kim Dong Wook, and Kim Jae Wook, gaining recognition. Throughout his career, he appeared in various works such as 'Who Are You?' and 'Drama City - Mugong Jokgu Wai Jeon', expanding his presence as an actor.
His short acting career left only regret. Before he could show more of his potential and achievements, he left this world, becoming a name forever remembered in the hearts of his fans.
In the MBC Docuflex broadcast in 2020, 'Back to Twenty - Coffee Prince', actors Gong Yoo and Kim Jae Wook commemorated Lee Un while expressing their longing. Gong Yoo said, "He was a very manly friend. It's regrettable that he couldn't show more." Kim Jae Wook recalled, "He's someone I think of every year on Aug. 21. He was someone who had many things he wanted to do."
Lee Un's sudden death continues to leave a great sense of regret among fans and colleagues even as time passes.
