In Park Chan-wook's new film "No Other Choice," actors Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin showcase their unique chemistry as a couple.
On 21st, the film "No Other Choice" (directed by Park Chan-wook, provided/distributed by CJ ENM, produced by Moho Film and CJ ENM Studios) revealed stills of Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin.
"No Other Choice" depicts the story of 'Mansu' (Lee Byung-hun), an office worker who felt his life was satisfying enough to think he had 'achieved it all,' suddenly getting fired. To protect his wife and two children and to retain the house he had struggled to secure, he prepares for his own battle for reemployment, heightened by the anticipation of a brilliant ensemble performance from trusted actors, as this film marks the first meeting of Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin.
Lee Byung-hun plays 'Mansu,' who struggles to make a living after being suddenly fired from a paper company to which he dedicated his life, while Son Ye-jin plays 'Miri,' his wife, who steadfastly maintains the family's center even in unexpected situations. They vividly portray the couple's reaction to crises, adding dramatic fun to the genre.
Lee Byung-hun noted about Son Ye-jin, "It was amazing how she expressed the emotions that the character had to convey. I thought, 'What a wonderful actress.'" Meanwhile, Son Ye-jin mentioned, "I thought Lee Byung-hun was the best actor compared to any actor in the world," drawing attention to the chemistry that was completed on the basis of trust. Park Chan-wook also revealed, "I wanted 'Mansu' and 'Miri' to look like a realistic couple you could see up close. They understood and expressed what I wanted very well," indicating that the chemistry between the two actors added authenticity to the film.
The film "No Other Choice," which heightens expectations with the meeting of Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin, is set to bring a refreshing breeze to theaters in September with its unique story. It is scheduled to be released in September.
