Actress Kim Tae-hee, who has become a mother of two, expressed her difficulties due to parenting stress.
Kim Tae-hee appeared on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' aired on the 20th and shared her thoughts on marriage, parenting, and acting.
Kim Tae-hee, who married singer Rain in 2017 and has two daughters, responded to the question, 'Do you tend to raise your voice at your kids?' by saying, 'I try not to.'
She said, '(Parenting) is emotional labor, so the stress sometimes goes to my mother or husband, and I try not to do that.' She added with a smile, 'My two daughters keep calling only me.'
When asked, 'What kind of dad is Rain to the daughters? Is he a dad who always says "okay"?', she answered, 'Yes.'
Kim Tae-hee mentioned, 'My husband manages his image. He always gives gifts to the daughters and also gives them junk food,' and added, 'I want them to eat as healthily as possible. I tend to feed them healthy food in abundance and suggest reducing snacks, but my husband does not do that.'
She noted that she has recently experienced 'a midlife crisis' and occasionally has minor conflicts with her mother. Kim Tae-hee said, 'My mom is really devoted. Just like with my siblings, she raises my children well,' and added, 'Because my mom's standards are strict, the puberty I didn't go through in my school days has come in my 40s, and I always want to rebel against what she says; it all sounds like nagging.'
While Kim Tae-hee loves her children, she candidly revealed that the stress from parenting is significant. She said, 'I gave birth to my first child as a honeymoon baby, but since I'm the type to exhaust myself in parenting, raising them is harder than giving birth.'
She continued, 'I thought having a second child was too much, but it came naturally and I ended up resting for 5 years,' adding, 'I want to do more work, and I developed a passion for acting, which changed my mind.'
She mentioned that she had a lot of parenting stress but said, 'The children have grown a lot now, so it has become easier,' and expressed, 'I feel like I didn't treat my mom well during the most emotionally difficult times,' even shedding tears. She conveyed her feelings of gratitude and apology by saying, 'I love you, mom.'
When asked, 'If you could spend time for yourself, what would you do?', she replied, 'Just being alone would be really nice. The flight to New York took 15 hours, but it went by in an instant. I want to have some time just for myself.'
Meanwhile, Kim Tae-hee recently made her comeback with the Amazon Prime Video original series 'Butterfly,' which is her Hollywood debut.
