Lee Junho has returned. At the script reading for tvN's new Saturday-Sunday drama 'Typhoon Company,' he distinctly exuded the presence of a leading character, signaling the dawn of a 'box office windstorm.'
The script reading for 'Typhoon Company' (directed by Lee Na-jung, written by Jang Hyun, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Imaginus, Studio PIC, and Tri Studio) was attended by prominent actors, including Lee Junho, Kim Min-ha, Kim Min-seok, Sung Dong-il, Kim Ji-young, and Kim Sang-ho, who brightened the event. The center of attention was undoubtedly Lee Junho.
Lee Junho portrayed 'Kang Taepung,' a novice president of a trading company who grows amid the IMF crisis. Expressing the tumultuous life of someone who stands at the center of a crisis in a moment, from a carefree orange youth to a capable man, he overpowered the site from the very first reading with confident eyes and a strong voice. The production team and actors were unable to hide their astonishment at his ability to delicately unravel emotions that changed moment by moment.
In particular, Lee Junho perfectly absorbed the era's ambiance, adding a sense of realism as if he had lived through 1997. Despite being a reading, he moved seamlessly between the spirited and serious aspects of Taepung, enhancing the immersion, and once again proved the strength of being a 'trustworthy star' who has continuously succeeded in global hits.
The production team noted, 'Typhoon Company is a drama that depicts the heartwarming survival stories of ordinary people who endured the IMF.' They further stated, 'For Generation X, who lived through 1997, it will evoke memories of survival, while for the MZ generation, it will provide empathy and comfort by helping them understand and respect their parents' generation.' They added, 'We hope that the 'spirit of resilience' from those times will inspire hope and courage in today's viewers.'
'Typhoon Company' depicts the struggles of Kang Taepung, a novice businessman who becomes the president of a trading company with no employees, money, or products during the massive turmoil of the IMF in 1997. Directed by Lee Na-jung, who has shown creative direction regardless of genre through dramas such as 'Fight for My Way', 'If You Wish Upon Me', 'Mine', and 'Please Take Care of My Family', expectations are heightened. The drama will premiere on tvN in October.
