The harmonious daily life of three families, Lee Young-ae, Bae Soo-bin, and Kim Si-ah, has been revealed.
The KBS 2TV new Saturday-Sunday miniseries 'Walking On Thin Ice' (directed by Song Hyun-wook, written by Jeon Young-shin), which is set to premiere on Sept. 20, tells the story of a parent, Kang Eun-soo, who wants to protect her family, and the two-faced teacher, Lee Kyung, who unknowingly gets involved in a dangerous and desperate partnership due to a bag of drugs.
Lee Young-ae plays the role of Kang Eun-soo, who is pushed to the brink when her husband's health deteriorates and they face financial bankruptcy. One day, while struggling to survive in a suddenly collapsed life, Eun-soo discovers a suspicious bag left behind by someone and jumps into a forbidden world.
Bae Soo-bin plays the role of Park Do-jin, Eun-soo's husband and the father of their daughter, Park Su-ah. Do-jin, who was not affluent but enjoyed a happy life as the head of a harmonious family after marrying Eun-soo, an employee at the same bank, is suddenly diagnosed with a terminal illness, and the reckless investments he made to provide for his family only deepen their predicament.
Kim Si-ah plays the role of their only daughter, Park Su-ah, who has grown up receiving love from Eun-soo and Do-jin. Although Su-ah lived happily like a friend with her parents, she is faced with an unmanageable reality at a young age due to a series of tragedies.
The stills released today (21st) show the morning scenery of the Eun-soo family, who seemed harmonious. Eun-soo, who has set a full table for her husband, who is about to leave for work, and her daughter, who is preparing for school, appears ordinary yet warm. However, a letter held in Eun-soo's hand soon shakes everything to its core. Do-jin's expression, devoid of laughter, hints at the impending disaster, and when her husband's secret is revealed, only a cold silence remains at the warm table.
In a moment of despair, Eun-soo's figure tightly holding her daughter Su-ah reveals her strong maternal instinct to protect her shaking family until the end. Eun-soo's determination to safeguard the family in place of her husband, Do-jin's precarious situation at the edge, and Su-ah facing unexpected realities draw interest to the fate the three characters will encounter.
The production team noted, "As can be felt just from the stills, the family ensemble created by Lee Young-ae, Bae Soo-bin, and Kim Si-ah was remarkably natural. Their sincere performances combined with a dense narrative will resonate deeply with viewers, and we ask for your anticipation of the unique transformations and tense narratives the three actors will present."
'Walking On Thin Ice' is an expected well-made piece, created through the collaboration of director Song Hyun-wook, who perfectly captures various genres that blend romance, thriller, and action, and screenwriter Jeon Young-shin, who brings together a rich narrative and realism.
