Members of the girl group TWICE, Jeongyeon and Jihyo, shared their thoughts on participating in the 'Kedaheon' original soundtrack 'Take Down.'
On the afternoon of the 20th, Arirang TV conducted a live broadcast of 'K-Pop: The Next Chapter' with President Lee Jae-myung. The event was attended by President Lee Jae-myung and director Kang of the Netflix film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' (abbreviated as Kedaheon), along with MC Jang Seong-kyu, and TWICE's Jeongyeon and Jihyo, who discussed the popularity of 'Kedaheon' and K-pop.
Among them, TWICE members Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung drew attention by singing the song 'Take Down' of the HuntRix members in the film. 'Take Down' also achieved a career high for TWICE by climbing the Billboard charts, driven by the popularity of the work.
As a current K-pop girl group, how much did TWICE relate to HuntRix? Jeongyeon noted, "During our world tour, we meet fans who sing along with one heart and one mind and show us supportive messages with signs. They come dressed in the same costumes, and we found a lot of empathy in those moments."
Leader Jihyo also laughed, saying, "The scenes of us in pajamas or just searching for a couch in our dorms resembled each other." She added playfully, "We frequently get acupuncture at the Korean medicine clinic," triggering laughter from the audience as she noted that there were many relatable aspects to HuntRix.
He particularly shared, "When I was approached to participate in 'Kedaheon,' I was sent all the HuntRix songs. I wanted to do them all, but I ended up doing the one I really wanted to do from my heart," revealing the background of choosing 'Take Down,' which was sung by HuntRix for the OST of 'Kedaheon.'
Jihyo said, "'Golden' was also a candidate, so I was struggling with it," and she laughed, adding, "However, we all felt that 'Take Down' really suited the three of us, so we went with it."
Jeongyeon remarked, "'Take Down' was the most difficult song since our debut," expressing her surprise. She shared, "I wondered if I could really handle this while singing it."
Contrary to her nerves, TWICE's 'Take Down' received favorable reviews from fans as well as from viewers who had watched the film. Consequently, Jeongyeon and Jihyo sang a portion of 'Take Down' live on the spot, earning applause.
'Kedaheon' is an action fantasy animation film depicting the story of K-pop superstar girl group HuntRix battling against demons behind their glamorous stage. Released on June 20 via Netflix, it reached the second place among all Netflix films. Additionally, the OST 'Golden' has climbed to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, causing a sensation.
