Two women who extorted over 200 million won from food broadcasting creator Tzuyang were sentenced to probationary prison terms.
On the 20th, the 12th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court, presided over by Judge Koo Chang-kyu, sentenced a woman in her 30s, identified as A, to 2 years imprisonment with a probation period, and a woman in her 20s, identified as B, to 1 year and 6 months imprisonment with 4 years of probation.
The court stated, "The crime lasted a long time, and the amount of extortion was significant, deeming the crime severe. The defendants admitted their responsibility and expressed their intention to apologize through representatives from the investigation stage. They also compensated the victim for an amount exceeding the extorted sum and reached an agreement with the victim, who does not wish to pursue punishment."
A and B are accused of extorting 216 million won from Tzuyang by threatening that they would reveal her past employment at an entertainment establishment between June 2021 and November 2022. Especially, A is also accused of demanding an additional 15 million won under the condition of not disclosing her personal life in 2023, which was ultimately unsuccessful.
Previously, Tzuyang revealed in a YouTube video last July, "Three years ago, the former representative of my agency (my ex-boyfriend) brought up these two women, saying, 'They are threatening me.' He suggested that I should silence them with my money, and reluctantly, the producer had to go meet them and I ended up giving them 216 million won over about 2 years."
