Hollywood action star Tom Cruise (63) has once again demonstrated rigorous self-discipline and dedication.
On the 20th (local time), Tom Cruise shared behind-the-scenes footage from the movie Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on his Instagram. This footage features previously unreleased scenes from the film, which was released in May, including not only his impressive shirtless appearance but also scenes in a diving suit in an underwater tank, as well as an introduction to his training process, which lasted over a year, to endure oxygen deprivation.
In the video narration, Cruise stated, "I built the stamina to withstand oxygen deprivation through more than a year of training," while director Christopher McQuarrie also noted, "The amazing thing about this series is the challenge of pushing limits."
The released video also captured high-intensity action sequences, including scenes of hanging from the outside of a plane and a vehicle flip inside a tunnel. Cruise confessed, "During the airplane scene, my finger joints were dislocated due to inertia, and I almost broke my back," adding, "Hanging on to the belt was truly a brutal experience." Director McQuarrie recalled, "After filming, his hand was swollen. Just watching it was painful."
This behind-the-scenes release is intended to provide additional content for fans coinciding with the digital version of the film's release. Cruise expressed gratitude to the actors and staff for sharing an unforgettable experience together, saying, "I hope this video becomes an opportunity for a deeper understanding of the making of 'Mission: Impossible.'"
Meanwhile, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning left some disappointment at the box office when it opened in North America in May due to being overshadowed by Disney's live-action film 'Lilo & Stitch Remake.' While 'Lilo & Stitch' earned $145.5 million in North America, 'Mission: Impossible' reached only $77.5 million in North America and $127 million overseas.
