Former AOA member ChoA cited BLACKPINK and TWICE as the reasons for her departure.
On the 20th, a video titled "Is it because of BLACKPINK and TWICE?" was posted on the YouTube channel 'This is the real final.'
In the video, former Crayon Pop member Soyul and former AOA member ChoA appeared as guests, and ChoA shared the background behind her departure from AOA.
She confessed, "I dreamed of being an idol and debuted, but it seemed like my hard work alone wouldn't make it happen anymore. And just then, BLACKPINK and TWICE emerged. With those friends debuting as fresh faces, I felt, 'This is my peak.'"
She continued, "I felt like more effort here wouldn't work. If I try harder, I would be half-crazy, so I decided to leave when the applause stopped," and Soyul, who was listening, remarked, "You seem to be the type who thinks and decides alone."
Then ChoA said, "That's right. So, the members probably won't like me," and with a laugh added, "But now it seems difficult to push further mentally. I thought I should at least find my happiness. I bravely came out with a great deal of courage to be disliked. I would probably leave even if I went back now."
Meanwhile, ChoA announced her departure in June 2017 after debuting with the group AOA in 2012.
