TV CHOSUN's new weekend mini-series 'Confidence Man KR' stars Joo Jong-hyuk as Myung Gu-ho, the youngest member of 'Team Confidence Man,' who boasts maxed-out sense of justice, empathy, and adaptability, promising a versatile performance.
Set to premiere on Sept. 6 (Sat.), TV CHOSUN's new weekend mini-series 'Confidence Man KR' (written by Hong Seung-hyun and Kim Da-hye, directed by Nam Gi-hoon, produced by TMI Group) is a 'capper comedy' about three con artists with versatile abilities seeking revenge against the villains of this era.
'Confidence Man KR' is directed by Nam Gi-hoon, known for his stylish directing in 'Casino,' 'Kiss Sixth Sense,' 'Oh My Baby,' and 'Voice 3.' The series is written by the 'master of investigations' Hong Seung-hyun, known for 'Criminal Minds' and 'Cheoryong 1, 2,' and the promising newcomer Kim Da-hye. With a lineup featuring Park Min-young, Park Hee-soon, and Joo Jong-hyuk, the drama is attracting attention as one of the most anticipated series in the second half of 2025.
In particular, Joo Jong-hyuk takes on the role of Myung Gu-ho, the youngest dynamic member of 'Team Confidence Man' who embodies both righteousness and cuteness. Through 'Confidence Man KR,' Joo Jong-hyuk delivers a multifaceted performance showcasing purity, clumsiness, comedic flair, and a passionate commitment to justice.
In relation to this, Joo Jong-hyuk exposes the 'sight mastery' side of Myung Gu-ho, the youngest member who has completed justice-oriented learning within the 'Confidence Man' team. Dressed sharply in a suit, Myung Gu-ho (Joo Jong-hyuk) creates an exciting atmosphere with his signature bright smile and shining eyes, showcasing an unguarded charm while casually lounging in first class with sunglasses.
Completing a soft image with an argyle knit, Myung Gu-ho displays a mix of fierce expressions while conversing with members, giving off a 'full criticism' aura, but also shows a pouty face with 'occasional sulking,' exuding the charm of the youngest. However, he also impresses with warmth as he subtly covers team members with blankets, showcasing qualities of a 'human Maltese' at the peak of cuteness and assertiveness.
On the other hand, Joo Jong-hyuk said, 'As Gu-ho, I have to embody a very diverse set of characters. Just being a part of such a work as an actor is an honor. Also, working in a team with actors Park Min-young and Park Hee-soon was fun and intriguing,' explaining the reasons behind his choice of the project.
Joo Jong-hyuk further stated, 'In each episode, I portrayed a new character with various outfits, and I wanted to express those effectively, spending a lot of time thinking about costumes and makeup. Also, when I was representing a country boy from Gangwon-do, I learned the dialect from a teacher who's from Gangwon-do, researching the characters given to me,' raising expectations for his character portrayal.
Finally, Joo Jong-hyuk left a surprising observation point by saying, 'Every episode features new protagonists; their actions to deceive others become key viewing points, making for a very entertaining experience. I think viewers will enjoy it right from the first broadcast.'
The production team noted, 'Joo Jong-hyuk is an astonishing actor,' adding that 'Joo Jong-hyuk enhances the vitality of the drama as the energy chief of the triangle axis of 'team play' in 'Confidence Man KR.' Please look forward to his performance in the drama.'
Meanwhile, 'Confidence Man KR' will premiere simultaneously on Sept. 6 (Sat.) at 9:10 p.m. on TV CHOSUN and Coupang Play, and it will be available to viewers in 240 countries and regions (excluding Korea) through Amazon Prime Video.
