Legendary singer Nam Jin has been confirmed as the first master of MBN's trot audition 'Hidden Legend.'
According to OSEN's coverage on the 20th, Nam Jin will join MBN's new trot audition 'Hidden Legend - The Ranking War of Trot Men' as the legendary master.
'Hidden Legend' is a large-scale male trot audition program newly presented by MBN under the slogan 'The Ranking War of Trot Men.' It is created with the aim of providing dreams and hopes for the 'hidden' participants, along with a prize of 100 million won. Singer Jang Min-ho and former MBC announcer Kim Dae-ho have been selected as the main MCs ahead of the first broadcast in February next year.
Previously, Nam Jin captivated viewers by appearing as a judge or a respected senior in MBN's other trot audition series 'King of Singers.' Now confirmed as the first master of 'Hidden Legend,' there are expectations for a different appearance from before.
Nam Jin recently revealed the reason for participating in 'Hidden Legend' to OSEN. When asked, "Is there a reason you transitioned from being a master on 'King of Singers' to a legendary master on 'Hidden Legend'?" he noted, "Those who have experienced being hidden in the past all know. Even if you strive to stand on stage, if you fail to create hit songs, you can easily disappear. That's why I chose 'Hidden Legend.'"
He further expressed, "The most important thing in an audition program is desperation. There is a tension and purity, a passion that cannot be felt by established singers. I believed that through 'Hidden Legend,' we could feel these emotions and help create a singer who can produce hit songs loved by the nation. I wanted to discover desperate gems and decided to challenge myself with responsibility as a senior."
Meanwhile, Nam Jin, who debuted in 1965 with 'Seoul Playboy,' has released numerous hit songs including 'Did I Come to Cry,' 'Heartbreaking,' and 'With You,' and has been loved as a top star crossing both stage and screen. He established a rivalry with singer Na Hoon-a, leading the first 'Oppa Group,' and this year marks the 60th anniversary of his singing career.
