'Independence Army: The Unfinished War' is a documentary film that deals with the history of Korea's independence war centered on the life of independence activist General Hong Beom-do. Actor Cho Jin-woong, who also participated in the repatriation of General Hong Beom-do's remains as a national special envoy, provided the narration, adding significance.
In this context, President Lee Jae-myung said on social media on the 16th, "Let's remember together with the film 'Independence Army' as we find the light again," adding, "I hope more people honor and remember the proud history of the Independence Army, and I will be welcoming those who want to watch the film with me tomorrow morning. Due to limited seating, we will select attendees through a lottery. I apologize for not being able to accommodate everyone." This brought a lot of attention from the general public.
On the 17th, President Lee Jae-myung visited CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall with First Lady Kim Hye-kyung and greeted citizens before the movie began. Citizens who saw the presidential couple waved to them, asked for handshakes, and took photos. President Lee also waved back and took pictures with children. Additionally, when the presidential couple entered the screening room holding popcorn and cola, the audience inside welcomed them with cheers. One citizen in the audience shouted, "Please look over here, President!" which brought laughter.
